Is it sacrilegious to do this to my 39-2? I recently bought a 2nd generation 559 slide for my 1st generation 39-2 because I was tired of looking at the damage (it looks like the previous owner used vice grips when replacing the extractor spring). The new slide will come with the adjustable bunny ear sights. I also traded for some 3rd generation magazines. After everything arrives in the mail, I will have parts from all three generations. Does anyone else have a transgenerational S&W? Please post pictures and tell your story.

I do not believe this slide conversion will work for you due to the firing pin safety incorporated into the 2nd generation pistols.

I don't have much of a story to go with it. I haven't gotten it lettered yet but I do intend to. It would be nice to know where this has been.

Not done by me but here is a 3rd gen 5904 that has a 2nd gen slide assembly as you can see from the separate barrel bushing and spots of both the slide and the frame for the red 'safe' dot.

This is chambered in 9x21mm for export to places where they are not allowed to have firearms chambered in 'military calibers'. I suspect that S&W was just using up parts they had around.

I just have to take the safety out. I would like to keep it but without the lever it is useless.
