Do you still have your first handgun, do you still have it?

My first was a Ruger Bearcat, purchased in 1973. I still have it and all other firearms I have acquired over the years. Never sold or traded any, but I only have 20. Most purchased in the last 18 months when I got infected with the S&W 3rd Gen disease!!

My first handgun was a Series 70 Colt I bought right after turning twenty one. It was my self-defense gun until I had it rebuilt as a bullseye target pistol, which it still is. It's the one on the bottom:

Still have my first SAA Colt in 38WCF. Bought it for 15 bucks in 1958. I was almost 11. ThunkI was gonna show them TV cowboys how to shoot...then realized my parents would confiscate it and I'd be out 15 bucks. Hid it for 7 yrs. before I drug it out. My mother let me have a free 30 carbine that same yr...and I got a 22 Hornet too...which led me into reloading. Handguns were frowned upon at home kinda

I bought my first handgun in 1976 after I turned 21.It was a ww2 browning hi Power. It took months of waiting for purchase permit in Detroit.A few years later it was stolen in a home burglary. DPD did not even want to do a report.

Yes, I still have it, a High Standard Sport King 22lr. Bought new in 1977,no telling how many thousands of rounds I put through it. Now retired but I could never part with it.

I had been lusting after a single six convertible for most of my life. Just had to have one. I finally got my pistol permit, went to the LGS to order a single six, and there was a .357 Blackhawk used that called my name and went home with me. Still have it.

My first hand gun was a gimme from my grandfather......given to me by my Dad. Not a good choice for a defensive sidearm...as it was a top break, Iver Johnson, in .38 S&W short.
Bought my self a S&W. mod. 67 -1 s.s. It does look good now, (Correcting the finish, after many years of carry wear).... as it was my protection weapon, when I was a Tavern owner for over a dozen years.

My first handgun was an Interarms Silver Cup 1911 A1. Bought it from The Huntsman in Sunnyvale, CA for $193.50 + $12.58 tax on 4/27/1979. Yes, I still have the receipt. Interarms apparently had a bunch of GI parts, so they made (or had made) the frames, assembled the guns, and sold them. Mine has a Remington Rand slide on it. I still have it.

I had Fred Sadowski of 300 Gunsmith (Denver) flare the mag well, install a Bomar sight, lower the ejection port, etc., about 30 years ago. It's probably my favorite pistol.

Yup I've still got my first, although that's no great feat as I've only had my LTC since 2/13 so...

First Handgun

Still have my S & W 22-32 kit gun with a 6 inch inch bbl. Got it for my 12 th birthday and I am 69 years old now. Shot thousands of rounds out of it, as did my son. Still in nice condition, with a collection of spare parts.

Yes I do. In about 1975 I bought a new Ruger MKI bull barrel Target for $100. Soon after I bought a S&W Model 19 used for $165. I haven't shot either in awhile but still trying to keep them in my current divorce I'm going through. Lawyers want me to prove I bought them before I got married and hard to do.
I know both guns were hard to afford on an E-4s salary but I cut costs in other areas to buy them and fortunately had a supportive first wife then. Of course we bought her a Bauer .25acp and then traded it on a Colt Detective Special.

I sure wish I still had my first handgun. It was a Ruger Standard .22 LR back about 1977 or so. Times got tough in the Carter years and I had to eat it. Well not really eat it, but you know what I mean. I was sure a sweet shooter. I used to be able to toss up a charcoal briquet with one hand and shoot it out of the air. Of course .22 ammo was real cheap back then and I shot it a LOT. If I remember right I got something like $60 bucks for it, just about everybody I knew was broke in those days.

Yes, I still have mine. My dad was a serious bullseye shooter, and gave me a Model 41. I was ten or eleven at the time and I imagine he wanted me to follow in his footsteps in competition, but it never worked out that way. I'll post a picture of it and the story with it one of these days.

Yes, to both questions ;)

The first handgun I bought was a S&W 681. I bought it a few years back the first time I came home from AF Tech School. I was planning on a Beretta 92fs since I had recently qualified with the M9, but this one caught my eye.

I don't have any photos loaded with just the 681, so here it is with a Sig.

I still have two of them,

and the wife has the other.

It was the first gun she fired, and she shot like it was her own...so it was only fair.

They were all purchased on my 21st.

Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 bought new in 1976. Was my first hand gun. A Ruger single-six with the conversion cylinder was my second. Sold the Ruger and luckily was able to buy it back some years later. :D I now still have both .
