Do you still have your first handgun, do you still have it?

Colt New Frontier 22/22Mag, 4 5/8". High school graduation present from my parents in 1971. Was going to pick a Ruger Super Single Six, but once I laid eyes on those colors...
Cost was $91.50 and the dealer threw in a box each of Long Rifles and magnums. Still have it with a basket-stamped Lawrence No. 120. left-hand holster.

Yep, Hi Standard Sentinal MKII 357, purchased early 70's. It was an only child until last year when I added a Shield 9 and then a Ruger SP101 last month.

The first handgun I bought was back in 2007 or so, and was a first generation Taurus 24/7 .45 Stainless . I sent it in for service about 4 weeks ago, and they determined it could not be repaired for various reasons. They are going to replace it with a Taurus 24/7 G2 .45 Stainless. Time will tell if I keep it..

A 1911-not a 1911 A1-a 1911-there's an 8 mm film of me shooting it out on the Colorado dry lands-I'm ten-1962.
It started me on the path of violence-I became an Infantry Officer-I shoot the pistol-but I doubt that 200 rounds have been run thru it.

No. My first was a 4" Model 19-3 that i bought at Meltzer's in Garfield NJ in 1977. I had just got hired on as an "Institutions and Agencies" police officer. When I moved to Florida 3 years later I promptly traded it for a 6" 66-1 (4" was unobtanium then) which I still have. Joe

Yepper. S&W 10-5.

I still have my first gun, a 6" S-prefix Model 28-2 my dad gave me when I was 14. I also still have the first gun I purchased myself, a Model 625-6 Mountain Gun.

Circa 1962, Webley Mk IV .38 in its grey web holster. $16.95 via mail order from Klein's in Chicago. Long gone, but it got me into handloading which I still pursue.

My first handgun was a cheapo SA 22 that quickly lost its sear and would not remain cocked so I don't have it or miss it. I do miss my first real revolver a Ruger Blackhawk in 357, I do wish I would have kept every Ruger and Smith I ever had. What was I thinking? Youth!

First Handgun

My dad brought a Browning Hi-Power back from WW2. It was my first handgun, and I still have it, Nazi markings and all. I had to replace the barrel, and put adjustable sights on it during a period of stupidity that I was going thru. Don’t use it now because the hammer “bites” me and I now have other 9 mm’s. When I go it stays in the family.

No and Really Regret Not Keeping It

I am really sorry I did not have the sense as a teen to keep all my guns.

My Mother bought me this when I was around 16.

Before then I shot my Grandfather's 22 rifle and pistol.

I liked the Luger and do not know why I got rid of it. I finally got the knack on how to use the "V" rear sight. I was use to a square or round rear sight. It was quite accurate.

This would have been a great retirement item, all matching numbers and no rust.

I bought my first handgun at age 17 while at Army Advanced Training at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD in 1959 It was a 6" Python serial number 6306 and cost $125. I was making $76/month as a buck private and the gun shop allowed me to lay it away for 2 months to pay for it. When I was stationed in Germany in 1964 I sold the Python to a German friend and every time I went back to visit we would take it to the range and shoot. Last time I shot it was 2019.

My first handgun was a Ruger convertible 22 single six I got in 1964.

Traded it for a Ruger 357 black hawk in 1966. That Ruger was traded for a Colt Gold Cup in 1973.

I had owned several used handguns of one sort or another but the first new gun I bought was a Browning 25 acp that I picked up when I was in California in 1967. No ID required then I guess as I had a Missouri drivers license. There was a 3 day waiting period however.

Not my first gun but my first S&W. Bought a model 57 in Fairbanks in 1967. Didn't have any 29...I was guiding. I ssold it in 69 to a fellow from the area cause I was, driving the Alaska Highway to the lower 48...No handguns in Canada. I actually bought it back from the fellow at a gun show in Wyoming about 2008..Still have it and keeping it. No box but does have the wooden presentation box. 4 inch gun. Not like new but heck I carried it and shot it..so did the fellow I sold it to

No the used 4" Model 10 (1979) got traded in for a new 2 1/2" 19 (1980)....... the rest is 44 years of history!

Sold the 19 to my Director of Security when I got a 3" 66-3 in 1988.

I bought my first handgun when I was nineteen and had just returned from Viet Nam. It was a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 magnum. I sold it when the Navy transferred me from the west coast to the east coast. I have bought and sold several of the same model since then.

Highway Patrolman Model 28-2 bought brand new in 1973 and it still resides in my safe:
