Yes I do. S&W mod 586 with 6" barrel. Purchased that revolver in the early '80s I believe. At that time I worked as general mgr of several fast food restaurants. One Friday we had an all-night task of removing a fryer unit and replacing it with a new one a and fabricating some stainless steel counters to make everything look right. Long story short, we got held up at sometime around 2 am. Won't go I to the whole ordeal but to say it scared the s**t out of me. I was inclined to purchase a handgun for home defense. The 586 is what was suggested to me. It's been a fine purchase. Even took it to Alaska once while on vacation in a remote area. I have been thinking of getting it refinished. Don't shoot it often. But, that trigger is butter smooth. I would never recommend shooting it single-action in a self defense situation, but on the range in single-action it fires by mental command!

Yep, a Winchester Model 67 22 single shot. I got it in 1957 when I was 13 years old. I chopped cotton for the money and paid $8.00 for it used and two boxes of 22 shorts. Fine old rifle but the sights are worn out as they're just not as sharp as they used to be.

Yes to the first rifle and pistol I bought myself.

First a left hand Savage 110EL in 7mag with a Japanese Hurricane 4X scope I bought in the late '60's. Since I originally sighted it in, I've never had to adjust it. Haven't hunted it in years but it holds a place of honor amongst the rest.

After college in the 70's I bought a brand new 28-2 and still have it, the box, papers and tools. Again, haven't shot it in years but it holds court with all that came later.

I sure like buying but selling isn't in my nature hence I call myself an accumulator.

Yes I do a Ruger standard model purchased in 1973 at Montgomery Wards. I was working for them at the time and with my discount it was $54 OTD.
No ugly roll marks on that one.

About ten tears later I sent it back to Ruger and for $15 it was reblued and some minor parts were replaced.

It was my first and I learned quickly how hard it is to hit anything with a handgun.

I don't have the first one I bought for myself but do have the first two my Dad bought for me in the late 50's. A Mossberg 140B 22lr rifle and a Hi-Standard Supermatic Citation 103 I still enjoy shooting them both.

Yup - I am 75 years old and graduated from high school in 1955. While I was still in high school I bought my first rifle, a Remington Model 512 bolt action .22, and my first shotgun, an Ithaca Model 37 16 gauge. I still shoot them both.

Nope,I wore it out.It was a 36 caliber cap and ball revolver and towards the end it was spitting a lot of lead.
My 2nd was a Remington 22 rifle. The stock is dinged, the blueing is worn, but I've still got it.Killed an awful lot of rabbits with it way back when.

My first rifle given to me by my dad, a Remington 552 speedmaster, I still have. Also still have the first firearm I purchased myself, Sig P228.

My first purchase was a Savage 110 in 270 winchester from the Western Auto that was closing down. I hated it. Took it to Rolla Rare Coin and Gun and traded it for a Ruger M77 which I had him order for me. Still have the Ruger.
Bought my first handgun from the same place, a Ruger GP100, which I still have.

I do, it is an H&R model 900, 6" barrel .22 cal, 9 shot cylinder. I bought it in the early 60s.

OMG! That means they actually made two of them.

My dad purchased one in the sixties for $35. That gun never shot straight.

Awhile back I purchased a two inch barrel and bobbed the hammer.

Now I can hit a target DA and it is fun to shoot.

OK - here is my story. I worked on the farm for my Grandfather in the summer of 1964 and saved all my money for my first shotgun. Amassed a small fortune of over one hundred dollars and it was off to the Smith's Hardware Store. I wanted a Winchester and the local store had 2 models to choose from. First rack contained these old looking Model 12s and the second rack held these fancy new fangeled Winchester Model 1200s.

The Model 12s were selling for $135 and the Model 1200 were selling for $125. Now why would I want the more expensive gun, plus it was an old outdated model, so I happily bought the "new and improved" 1200. Used the gun for 10 years, but it was a cheaply built gun and felt loose from the first time I used it. Eventually, it was moved to the back of the gun safe. Finally sold it in 1985 for $100. If I had bought the Model 12, I would still own it.

Do I want the Winchester Model 1200 back - absolutely not!

I know about chopping cotton. I bet you know about boiled peanuts.

I bought my first gun using my very own money with money I made selling boiled peanuts in 1960 or 61. That means I was either 11 or 12 years old. It was a Marlin Golden 39A. It was then (and is today) one of my most prized possessions. I added the scope probably 25 years ago.

Back in the 80's I bought my first gun, a SS 6"Ruger GP100 .357 Mag. I was new to shooting and the GP was new to the market. Circumstances arose, and I sold it after about 2 years. However, about 2 weeks ago they were available on Bud's and I snatched one up. It was like welcoming home a long lost friend.

Great thread! I do have mine...it was a Remington 870 12 gauge pump gun. I bought it in college...taught myself how to hunt and found one of the great loves of my life doing it. I've killed deer, ducks, geese, squirrels, rabbits, dove and more with that gun. In fact...I bet the North American Wildlife Union has filed suit against WalMart for selling me that gun!
