Do you Tweet???

Like most of the respondents here I have no accounts or involvements with Twitter or any of the other services commonly known as 'social media'. I suspect my reasons are more varied and complex than those of most of the others. I'm guessing there are at least half a dozen such reasons for my abstention from participation in these platforms -too many to delve into here, especially at this hour of the night. I'll just say that every one of my reasons is substantial & rational, and all point me in the same direction.

Carry on, folks.

Elon has 82.9 million followers on Twitter.

About an hour ago he tweeted a playful meme aimed at Bill Gates. Within minutes it had over 230K likes. People pay attention to him and he is an expert at working Twitter.

It is a pleasure to watch him work.

I believe he is now the most interesting man in the world.

Are you sure it's not wine.[emoji16]

I signed up for twitter, and actually twitted once several years ago. Just couldn't figure it out.

Face book is another matter. Reconnected (at least to see how fat they got) with lots of old friends and class mates. If you want to buy or sell up here, a facebook account is a necessity. If i want to actually see (pictures) or keep current with my extended family, face book is nice.

And you betcha i follow news and get political on it. Nothing gives a feeling of accomplishment like making fools of "fact checkers".

I'm on Twitter and should be easy to find. Bonus: no dings, unless you really, really step in/on it, but has yet to happen to me.

More seriously, the absolute best, most timely, most expedient source for breaking news is Twitter, so long as you follow lots of media sources. Something happens anywhere, five seconds later, multiple sources to check. They're not all immediately correct, but you know right away that something happened . . .

Have never tweeted-have no idea how to do so but I might have to learn-or at least buy some stock.
I wonder if Elion Musk is going after the Forum next???

I don't tweet as much as I used to. I mostly read those that I follow.

Muss is correct in that if anything happens anywhere on the planet I usually get my first whiff of it on Twitter.

Hot off the presses;

From msn.com money:

"Twitter's board of directors unanimously agreed to Musk's offer to purchase the social media platform at a price of $44 billion, the company announced Monday."

His detractors are already calling him Adolph Twittler.

Twitter is on fire right now. Big changes coming. Be a hot time in the old town tonight! What a guy!

Twitter accepts Musk'''s $44 billion deal | Fox Business

"Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated," Musk said in a statement. "I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it."

I've never been a Twitter user, never had any interest in it. I will be very interested in seeing analysis of the algorithms to see how much Twitter was/is manipulating access to information.
