Doctor says I need more exercise and advised that I walk every day. I put on 15 pounds during COVID.

Wife makes me walk every day, no matter what.

She said it is so difficult breaking a New Boy Toy.

Wife made a video of me walking to the mailbox yesterday.

A man and his wife in their late 90's go to the doctor for their annual checkup.

"You're both in great physical health" says the doctor "How do you keep it up at your age.

"We'll" says the husband, "the day we got married, 75 years ago, we decided that if one if us lost an argument then we had to walk five miles that same day. I have walked 5 miles every day for the last 75 years, rain, hail, or shine".

"Well that's commendable" said the doctor. He then turned to the wife and said "What's your reason"?

"Every day for the last 75 years I walked 5 miles, rain, hail or shine, just to make sure the lazy beggar doesn't take any shortcuts".

But it's a dry heat. You know like a kiln!

martyd: You have two basic choices. If you can stand it, get up and out early in the AM, right after sunrise. Otherwise, get some decent home exercise equipment (not cheap if you are serious; I am on my 6th exercise bike after breaking all the cheaper ones; this one cost about $800 and has had a few hundred in repairs). I use a Gorilla bow for resistance training; while it is not as good as serious weight stuff, it is a lot cheaper and has been pretty functional.

The reason I take this position is that training outside in the heat can be risky, especially with increasing age and if you are not in good shape anyway. Yes, when I was 30 or so I would run in the Illinois summer starting around 1300 because I worked nights and slept until at least noon. 8 or so miles in that will make you happy to take off your shirt and get it wet in the sprinklers on the route. I had to be very conscious of hydration, and I was in pretty good shape then. Today? Nope. Age and recovering from surgeries etc. has taken its toll, although I have had a lot better luck with all this because I did use to train like a man possessed.

Reducing the risk of the heat, of which you seem to be aware, is a BFHD.

You come up with the most amazing music! I once saw Blue Oyster Cult in about a 2,000 seat venue in Colorado Springs about 1975. They were amazing, along with many of the other guitar-based groups of the era. This recording is good but doesn't come close to live action.

Thanks. I saw them in the late 70's in Greenville, NC at a music venue called The Attic. Magnifique!

I saw the Cult with Kansas, Iron Butterfly, and Black Oak Arkansas at the Darrington Music Festival in the early 1990's. My buddy who got us the tickets was doing Iron Butterfly's website for them at the time, and he got us backstage passes for the whole weekend.
All of the bands were past their heyday by that time, but they could all still play their big hits! What a show!

My wife is on a health kick. She took up horseback riding. So far it has worked out well. The horse has already lost 15 pounds.

Was at my local range a while back, was loading a number of Wilson .45 magazines by hand. A very nice lady asked if I wanted to borrow her push loader. I declined and told her this was my favorite form of exercise.

I saw BOC as a part of the "Texxas Jam" in the Houston Astrodome in 1981. Also on the ticket...

Foghat
REO Speedwagon
Heart

and somebody else I can't remember. Foghat was awesome too.
