Beginning Saturday the Pacific Northwest has been hit with a record setting heatwave that's supposed to continue at least for the week. Many places are setting all time highs with cities hitting temps as high as 117 degrees. Thankfully I'm on the South Coast of Oregon. Yesterday was supposed to be the peak of the heatwave. Here on the coast our high was 73 with a light breeze (here that means about 10 mph). A mere 10 miles inland the temps go up by over 20 degrees. I like sunny weather but 117 degrees! I'll stick with the 70's and be comfortable.

I am in SW Washington, about 50 miles from the coast. Predicted high today is 114. Yesterday was 111. Trying to keep my flowers alive but losing the battle.

And, my A/C is a Carrier unit. :D

I’m in Northwest Oregon about 30 miles outside Portland.

A little while ago, around ten, I checked and discovered that at 106 my place was a mere 5 degrees below the current temperature at Furnace Creek in Death Valley, which showed 111 degrees.

That’s … not usually the case.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of Earth our friend Kiwi Cop must be cozy …

The last time I remember a major days long heatwave hitting the northwest there were so many people coming to the coast that the news kept warning people not to go to the coast because there was no place to stay.
