Does 460 PC have polygonal rifling?

Holy cow, ruggyh! Could there be any one collector that personally owns more .460 S&W Magnum revolvers than you? That is impressive and the picture -- I did a double-take when I saw it!

Making WOOD grips/stocks for all those might require clearing an acre of trees..... Rubber Trees that is!
An old pair of Herretts being refitted for the Xframe. Were a gift from Rob at Demarcus USA decades ago...... and as Steve Herrett was an early Big Bore handgunner they’ll look nice on the 460 after some Strategic Air Command enhancements on each side.
Let’s shrink down a 52. It could happen! :D

I got off the phone with Lothar a few hours ago and the guy said that they haven’t made barrels for S&W in like 6 years. He also said they typically use a button rifling process (I think that’s what it’s called), not hammer forging.

I seem to keep getting mixed information.

How the barrel is made and how the rifling is applied are two completely different things.

Hammer forging is a process by which the physical barrel is produced, just one off many.

The rifling method is how the groves and lands are formed.

You are getting inconstant information because you are not asking the right person at each company.

Button rifling is a type of broaching. The barrels used in the model you have inquired about are in fact produced by Lothar.

The 7.5" gun you are interested in is the same as the Bone Collector version sans the finish.

As stated in previous post none of the 460 have ever had polygonal rifling.

be safe

That's why when I see a post about a 460 I normally respond: "Ruggy will be along in a minute..." ;) :D :D :D

My 5" 460V is a Real Flame Thrower with the same Hornady Ammo. I can't imagine what a 2.75 would look like being fired.

Just a little more than a 3-1/2 bbl. does. :D

The little 460 might be an ES Model.... 2.75” barrel.

They made a 500ES also... for anything the 460ES has a problem with. ;)
