does anyone else wish for a 22 MAG version?

Meh. Both are too expensive for what the 15-22 is. A cheap AR-15 trainer and plinker.

There are much better rifles out there for the .22 Mag and the .17HMR. You won't get the best performance out of them from the 15-22.

Agree 100%. My CZ 455 can shoot all 3 of those calibers with a simple barrel change and has the accuracy to do something with that extra speed.

I like .22WMR . Rimfire AR rifles/ uppers/ conversions have their place. But there is minimal overlap between the two. The rimfire AR's are training understudies , or tacticool range toys. Those requirements are well met by .22lr .

I can easily pump 500 and more rounds through my 15-22's in a single setting and have multitudes of fun doing it. I cannot afford that kind of fun at Mag prices. A new Magpul model with a M4 style upper, removeable handguard and A2 front sight would be appealing.

It's a fun cheap rifle to spray lead with cheap ammo. Why would you want to have a fun cheap rifle to spray lead with expensive ammo? If you want to shoot 22 WMR or 17 HMR, get a rifle it deserves like a CZ 455.

Agreed, I don't see the point. For the prices I'm seeing for WMR/HMR, I can shoot .223/7.62x39.

Great point. For far less than 22 mag, I can shoot my Spikes 5.45 AR all day long. And the ammo is readily available and substantially more powerful than 22 mag.

Still, its not all about $$, sometimes things that are different are just fun just because. I still doubt that we will ever see one though.

YES! There is no good reason the ammo has to be so expensive other than volume. If we had this rifle in 22WMR we'd consume lots of ammo and completion for our business would bring prices down. I love 22WMR

The reason I would like one in 22 mag is because 15 years ago I bought a lot of it when it was cheap. At the time I had a HK 300 semi auto clip fed that I considered a mini assault rifle. I don't think anyone on the receiving end of a barrage of 45 grain bullets headed their way would question whether the cost of the round was prudent! And they do not take up nearly as much room or weigh like a 223 would. Think along the lines on these merits, then tell me what you think.

I wouldn't say I'd wish for one, but I do like options. There are so many caliber conversions for regular ARs, it would be nice is some could be developed for the S&W 15-22 platform as well. Even if it took aftermarket uppers made of something a little more durable.

I think we are more likely to see the new .17WSM in AR platform before .22WMR. 3000 fps rimfire? hell yeah!

.22mag would be soooooooo much better if it had the same case diameter as .22lr. Being ever so slightly thicker makes things so much more complicated than if it weren't.

I'd take center fire .223/5.56 or 7.62x39 over rimfire anything all day long in a self-defense situation, and I think most people would too.
Of course, that's a completely different discussion, with a completely different dead horse.
