It happens that I bought up on (now discontinued) Reloder 12 for a 35 Whelen I had for several years. The Whelen is now gone, but I newly have a 7.62x39 Colt that seems as accurate as any in 5.56.
So; does anyone have any old recipes for Rx12 in 7.62x39 in any bullet weight? Case capacity and max pressure is similar to the 30-30, and Rx12 was excellent in all bullet weights for that northern New Mexico assault rifle caliber (treinta y treinta).
Thirty-three grains of Rx12 fill empty Norma Combloc cases to the mouth. Lyman's #47 shows 31.0 to 35.0 grains for 30-30 with 110 grain bullets, and 30.0 to 33.5 for the 30-30 with 150 grain bullets at 38,000 CUP - they show 42,700 CUP max for any 7.62x39.
What I'm thinking is to try a starting load of 27.0 grains Rx12 with 123 grain .310" bullets.
Experience? Thoughts? Suggestions?
