Does anyone NOT own a Yeti?

Also, when we travel, we always add ice to the icebox cooler that we get at the motel, or a store before we get back on the Interstate Highway.

Might be nice to have a Yeti chest if you want to pack 50 pounds of fish you caught in Alaska back to the lower 48. But I have never had such a need, not likely I ever will. I saw some Yeti clone 16 oz. cups in the markdown section of my nearby WalMart today for $5 each. I think they had originally been priced at $9. I was slightly tempted, but I don't really have any use for them.

I did a weeklong trip on the San Juan River last year in daily temps exceeding 100 degrees. We had four rafts, each with large coolers. Two were made by Yeti and two were from Flagstaff AZ made by a company called Canyon coolers. All were packed with block ice. The ice blocks lasted ALL week even with us reaching into the coolers all the time for beer and food. No cheesy WalMart Igloo cooler could do that. We'd be out of ice in a couple of days.
The cups, on the other hand, I could never see spending 20+ dollars on a cup.
My son has a big Yeti cup he paid that much for and I have the WalMart 9 dollar version. They are physically identical and both do a great job keep ice or hot coffee for hours and hours. Some guy did a Youtube comparison of the two. Sawed them in half, tested them in an oven, etc. He concluded that they must have both been made in the same factory using the same patterns and materials.
I think the secret on the cups isn't the double-wall insulation so much as it's the closeable lid with silicone seals.

You couldn't give me one. To me it's like a badge of gullibility for folks looking to keep up with the trendy neighbors. There are better ( proven) products out there for significantly less $.

Okay, I get it, they're good products but like the OP said Colemans are good to, never had any issues with them for camping, BBQs, whatever.

I don't see the point in spending hundreds of dollars on CUPS and ice coolers. "MADE IN AMERICA" okay that's awesome! I'm made in America too, but I don't have the cash to spend on your astronomically priced stuff. Plenty of other "made in America" things that are priced REASONABLY and that I do in fact buy.

Count me down as one who doesn't "get it" I guess.

I don't think everybody has a yeti, but it is an absolute fact that every pickup truck in my area has a Yeti sticker on it somewhere. May be some kind of law for all I know.

I worked at a boat shop for 5 years, and had many experiences with all different grades of coolers (read Price brackets). Being that I never owned a boat, I never invested in any serious Yeti like cooler.

I'm on my second Coleman flip top cooler, which usually rattles around the back of my truck, with ice and drinks until supply of one or both run out. While I believe you get what you pay for in most cases, I have been served pretty well with the "bargain priced" coolers for my personal use.

This last Christmas I was given a Yeti 20oz cup, and tarpon shaped bottle opener. I have to say, I was shocked the first time I went back for a sip of hot coffee, from that cup. It was still as hot as when I had poured it 3 hours earlier. It also keep ice for about 24 hours, with continuous refills of water. I'm a believer, but I've never spent my own money on one.

When people ask, I tell them my personal experience. Whether they spend their $ on Yeti is left up to them.
