I really want a snub nose 327 but do not want to own a Ruger. Did S&W really let the 327 LCR go unanswered?

As much as I liked my Bodyguard38, Smith seems to not support it very much. The only thing they've ever done is remove the laser and put M&P on it.
Ruger .327 Magnum
So far S&W has almost forgotten the .327 Magnum, hoping or thinking it was destined to die a slow and uneventful death. Yes they did produce a Model 632, I believe it was, that has reached the very expensive price plateau simply because there were very few produced. Personally I have had to turn to the Ruger for that caliber, I have an SP-101, 3" and am satisfied that it's a quality revolver and did also have an LCR but traded it off for something I thought I wanted at the time. I wish Smith would reconsider but I firmely believe they would have already re-entered the market if they had the faith in and the respect for the .327 cartridge and it's future. I'm convinced the .327 is a viable cartritge and hope it has a future but convincing S&W has proved to have fallen on deaf ears. Sorry this is so long but I thought it needed to be said.

I’d like to see S&W design an airweight that will support 6 shots of the largest caliber possible be it 327 or 334, then design that caliber.
To my knowledge, it appears so, other than the aforementioned 632.
And although the 327 in a J would be a start, I think that caliber would shine
brighter in a K. That's why I jumped off the deep end and reamed a 16-4.
Since I had to first find the 16, it wasn't cheap but was it worth it? Without mentioning any monetary figures, mine is not for sale.
I will say that if you have a platform or the means to get one, do it. You won't regret it. I think that one could find a decent K in 38/357 and have it (barrel/cylinder) lined cheaper than starting with a .32 or .22.

I have an LCR 327 and I carry it frequently.
IMO, the LCR is the best self defence platform for the round.
At 17 oz, even the hotter 327 Federal rounds like the 100 gr Gold Dot are shootable.
Plus it holds six rounds, and you can go to 32 h&r magnum for a lighter load like the 80 gr Critical Defense if you want.
Smith really doesn't have as good a platform. A 632 centennial would be pretty heavy, and a very lightweight Scandium j frame would be a bear to shoot with full power 327 Federal.

Between .327, .41 Magnum and 10mm Smith makes a total of ONE model..the 6" blue 57 Classic...and that is why over the last five years Ruger has gotten all my new gun money.
I was however lucky enough to grab a used 632-2 Pro a few weeks ago that dealer had priced like it was a used 642 Pro....about 1/3 what the last two on GunBroker sold for.
Also have a LCR and a 3" SP-101..the 632 will outshoot both of them. The LCR is a great light little pocket gun but does bark quite badly... The SP-101 is a boat anchor...
Had a bunch of my 2-3" snubbies out a couple of weeks ago and just for fun ran 5 shots through each DA at 50 yards...the 632 was the only one that put all five rounds into the kill zone..

The LCR is a great weapon. But it has the charm of a Glock.

I would love for S&W to Start Chambering the 640 Pro in 327 again or a lightweight 6 Shot 32 Magnum in a J frame again.

Triathloncoach, I have to agree with you about the LCR appearance but have you tried the double action trigger pull as compared to most, if not all J Frame Smiths? That makes it an ideal self defense revolver since a lady would be able to have an easier time of pulling the trigger and holding on the target during the pull. I'm agreeing that I believe that S&W, as a for profit company has missed the boat and Ruger has profited because of it. Not that my opinion is important to anyone but me but I did have my say.
Edited to add that I also agree with Jack The Toad, the K frame is better suited to handle the recoil of the .327 Mag. and would be the more popular as a Range Revolver given the accuracy the .32 caliber presents, the suggestion about using the M-640 platform for the .327 Mag. would be, in my opinion, the ideal self defense handgun platform, not to mention the veristility that the .327 Mag. chambered revolver will shoot. This isn't the place to go into it further but the .327 should be given a chance to have a future and hope S&W will reconsider it's decision to abandon it!

Heck, we can't even get a 5 shot 9mm reintroduced. I think a 327 is likely a good bit behind that.
p.s You have to give Ruger credit, they are way out in front of Smith in trying new designs and chamberings across their whole line. I for one, think it is paying off. They certainly have earned more of my $ in recent years.
