I have a number of revolvers from the 80's-90's and got to thinking about what happens if one needs repairs. Things like the cylinder stop lug or hammer mounted firing pins/hammers etc.

Does S&W still maufacture these parts as needed?
did they save up a bunch of these parts to use?
are they simply out of them and can no longer service these parts?

I read that S&W ran out of hammer nose bushings some time ago.

I have started to amass the likely wear and repair parts myself, as it is increasingly likely that all of the older stuff will be superseded at some point.

Old-style parts, they're not manufacturing them; they don't sell them; if they have much in stock, they don't say so.

Numrich, Jack First, eBay and this website are among your best bets for sourcing needed items.

S&W will do some repairs on the older revolvers if they have the part or the modern equivalent of it, but anyone needing a variety of repairs on the older revolvers should have a list of the few remaining real revolversmiths at the ready.

This S&W factory tour video is a few years old, but the say they can support a firearm as old as 1960 if parts are available.

I'd say it is a 50/50 chance that S&W will have the parts you need.
