S&W replaced the barrel on my M&P Performance Center Ported Shield.

Today, I took it to the range for the 2nd time. I shot about 150 rounds thru it. I just got home and was cleaning it... And I found the crown to look like this::

It's not carbon. It's like the finish came off the crown, in the places the rifling is at. And, it's very rough. There is nothing to "clean off" to fix it. Somehow, the black came off in places.

The original barrel did not do this, nor has any other Shield barrel I have.

Anyone else seen something like that?

Blazer Brass and Hydrashok rounds.

I've tried cleaning it, and it won't come off. I'll try some more, I guess

Does appear to be lead but photos can be trouble sometimes
I too would try an scrub it out with a bronze/brass brush & clean the crown with some chore boy
Hopefully those aren't dents from a seatbelt which I have seen many times
Good Luck shipwreck
Every time I see your handle, I think of Gilligan little buddy

No, the marks came off finally.

I don't normally shoot Hydrashok rounds, so I suspect that maybe it was those rounds that did it.

OP, glad you got it cleaned up. Were you shooting lead?

No, just Blazer Brass and about 20 rounds of hydrashok rounds. I suspect it was the Hydrashok rounds, as this has never happened before
