does your dog "talk"?

We have a fiest that can and does say OUT when he wants to hit the yard.

On a court show the judge was trying to determine if a young kid would make a reliable witness. She asked him -
"Do you have a dog?"
"Yes"
"Can your dog talk?"
"Yes"
"Yes? What does he say?"
"I don't know - I don't talk dog."

He was then sworn in :)

kamloops, That's one good looking dog.

I customer of mine has one that's 16 years young. The first time I herd him sing I about died laughing. Great dogs.

I have two huskies, and they are very vocal dogs. They almost never bark, but the will howl when they want something. My wife gets into long conversations with one of ours and he will howl for five minutes or more at her.

Sounds like Scooby-talk to me. You know, 'Rooby-roo'. Tusker doesn't talk Scooby as a rule, but he will lapse into it if I am speaking it. Chauncey just leaves it alone.

I used to have a Mexican Beagle. How did I know he was Mexican? Well, his name was Pepe, and he didn't speak a #*^&%~@ word of English.

Timely post. Nice looking dog OP.

My female lab talks in her sleep, you can tell if she's chasing a rabbit or upset with something.

Last weekend my wife was visiting our Daughter and baby grand daughter. I was going in to the backyard, our old male lab walked in, I shut the gate on our female and turned my back. Normally if she wants something badly she does the woo ee oooo stuff like mentioned above. This time she said doo wayynnne. I stopped turned expecting to see my wife funning me, no one but the lady lab was there. A freak weoo oo I guess.

I immediately tried to get her to repeat it. No luck, and then I thought one woman in the house wanting my attention is enough.

Mine apparently is a music critic. Soon after I got him (two years ago, he's a rescue dog) he was sitting on my lap and just for the sheer hell of it I sang "Old Man River" to him. I thought I did it rather well--I have the voice for it, but have to pitch it about a tone and a half below the original key. He sat there watching me with rapt concentration, cocking his head from side to side as I sang.

When I finished the song he jumped down and barfed on the carpet.

A critic.

My dogs always talk to me. When I get home, my Husky/Malmute always gets down in a play bow with his rear in the air wagging his fluffy tail while going wrrooooo wrrooooo wooooo.

I was fussing at my late Irish Setter about something she did (probably involved a 5 foot deep hole in the yard). Finally she looked up at me and just started row, row. row, row, row as if she was sayng "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah now are you through?" It was either that or she was cussing me out in the old tongue.

I had a GSD rescue a few years ago that was a "talker." That was new to me coming from a dog. The cutest part was that my then 9 yr old male GSD that had never come close to "talking" started doing it after seeing his new "sis" get so much attention with her "talking."

I've got a Shih Tzu mix breed rescue dog (Rudy). One of our
three dogs along with our two Dachsunds.
He has been taught to say " I love you" for a liver treat.
He tries so hard to talk some times when he knows there is
some "goodies" as his reward. It comes out pretty good
most times ( Rii Ruuvvv Ruuu). My wife just cracks up every
time i get him to talking.
Never been without a dog and don't believe i could stand to.

My setter has the classic setter yowl. She will yowl for friends but for family she will raise the pitch and let out a childish scream. It really sounds like a child screaming. This one is also a barker. She will imagine seeing something worth barking at and go on an excited barking tirade. I will yell for her to shut up and she will look at me, do gumble-whine a couple of times then run off to another room to continue barking. I'm too lazy to chase her.
