Does your hardware store have a flashlight bulb package?

You know, one of the yellow boxes with a clear top with many trays of flashlight bulbs in it? Usually from GE or Phillips?

I came back from the hardware store down in town and while I was there, I needed a couple of flashlight bulbs that they have in the handy "bulb assortment" box they've had for years. I was informed that they can't get any more bulbs to replace the ones they've sold out!

Sure, I've got a few LED flashlights, but...what if there's an EMD attack, or even worse, zombies! Everyone knows zombies are attracted to LED light, right? :D

I was told that this was no on account of government intervention, but because LED's are replacing them and many people don't want old-fashioned bulbs any more.

Better stock up!

I bought two "bulbs" for my huge chrome 6v Ray-o-Vac Sportsmans Lantern that I bought 30+ years ago, and an alkaline battery for it too- they had them on sale for $11.99 anyway. ;)

I was wonderin' what happened to Jimmy after he stopped peddlin' peanuts down in Plains.
Guess he must have opened a hardware store.
Sure sounds like one of his lines. :D

I can still find the old style bulbs for my lights that use them but only in blister packs with two bulbs. I haven't see the loose bulb assortments in a while.

I just converted a couple of my flashlights to LED by buying a universal replacement. It actually works better and lasts longer. They are about $15, but I figure they will pay for themselves by using less batteries and the LED bulbs shouldn't burn out for quite awhile.

Have you tried to find a good buggy whip lately?

Not only that, but the hardware store guy looked at me like I was crazy when I asked where the butter churns were kept. What IS this world coming to ?

Ok guys...

I'm a bit upset that there wasn't a "Churn'n and Burn'n" festival this year a bit south of here...we bought three five gallon glazed churns down there last year for more than a reasonable price- I did make lids for them, but I don't own any milk'n cows, so no I haven't tried churning in them.

We got them to make pickled corn, pickled beans and sourkraut.

Don't forget to get strike anywhere matches- only way to light a good cigar, which I haven't enjoyed in a couple of decades.

A few of the very few remaining independent hardware stores in this area
have the boxes you describe. Unfortunately many of the newer prepackaged ones are PRC made which I have found to be poor quality.
Try Lancaster County, Pa., for the buggy whips.

Where did you get those? Sounds like a plan to me.

Actually, the tray of flashlight bulbs is still there - it's right next to the vacuum tube tester .......
Been a while since I saw one of those, also !

Here's one, I'm sure there are others.
Also, check for these products at Amazon, it's sometimes cheaper going through them. :)

Note, the mini-mag fiber optic attachment works pretty well for getting some light into small, hard to reach places.

That's the company I got mine from! I found them in my local ACE hardware and then I noticed some at the BX on base. Thanks for the website; they seem to have some other good products. I discovered them the first time when trying to find a bulb for my old 6 D-cell mag light (that's a real difficult bulb to find). The upgrade LED from this company dropped right in and works fine. I've had that light for about 20 years now.
