Until this dog, no. They always had their own bed and were happy with it.
This one is a pit and as we found out after the fact, they are more loving and closer to humans than almost any other dog.
She NEEDS to be on your lap or hugging or touching. When we got her from the pound as a puppy, the first night she disregarded her bed which was right next to ours and stood and put her paws on ours and cried. So mournful was her appeal, we let her in.
She been there ever since.
She's 8 now. We wash her every week and she never gets into anything dirty, our yard is all deck or cement, house is kept clean.
Overall I am surprised to be sleeping with a dog in the bed (under the sheets), but after all this time I accept it and frankly, I look forward to having my buddy snuggle with me.
BTW, another thing she does is to lick when she's getting sleepy. Her routine is to victimize me or the wife and just lick until the cows come home. I've learned over time how to slow then stop her. She can't help herself in her zeal to say thanks for another good day and I love you.
Dogs are the best.
When dogs decided to be friends with man, man got the better end of the deal.
