Don Hume Experts

I was looking at a break front holster at a pawn shop and was wondering if anyone could confirm that it is for a 4" K-frame based on the model number stamping. Really a nice looking holster in near new shape and it seemed priced pretty darned good at $30 too.
Below is a photo of the stamping on the back. It says:
Don Hume
Miami Okla
H900 No. 1-4
Adjustable
Sights

Anything anybody can tell me about it would be much appreciated.

My Hume catalogs are from the ‘70’s and don’t list the H900 model. Category 1 is for the model 19 and other K frame revolvers, I believe the 4 indicates barrel length and the holster is clearly for a Combat Magnum or Masterpiece as it is stamped Adjustable Sights.
That’s all I could come up with.

Call Don Hume and ask. I bought a box full of NOS JIT Slide holsters three years ago and a lady at Don Hume looked the numbers up for me and told me what model handguns fit them.

Red's comment about the markings reminded me that I have a couple similar Don Hume holsters. These are H950s, though.... very similar construction with the spring closure. The 2" is marked "Adjustable sights" while the 3" is marked "Fixed sights."

Don Hume is total junk and does not stand up and are way overpriced! They don't even make most of their holsters today! Yup, you guessed it...Made in China! Let the buyer beware!

I haven’t purchased or traded for a Don Hume product in three years; however, the few I own are well made and highly functional.

The name is still in business, yes. Not sure where it's made these days though but Don Hume was once the major player in LE leather gear!

I have several Don Hume holsters and have always found them to be well made and reasonably priced. I have a couple that are over 20 years old that are still in very good condition and quite serviceable. I like 'em.

Don’t have a clue as to their current status. But back in the 70’s and 80’s I wore a Don Hume Duty belt, holster, speed loader pouches and cuff cases every work day for years.
It was good leather gear, every bit as good as what I had in Bianchi or Safarialand. I still have a bunch of their holsters and occasionally use them.

I think its a good thing to do. There is a lot of difference in
how a gun with fixed rear sight and one wih adjustable rear
sight fit in the holster.

Don Hume was purchased by Oklahoma Leather. I think that
happened before Don passed on.

Based on my experience with those H950s, an adjustable-sight gun won't fit in the fixed sight holster. It's just that tight. These were new-old stock when I got them, and they're what I'd call heavy-duty construction. Not sure how old they are, but they were in great shape when they arrived.

Using a Don Hume IWB (H715MSNO.7-3). It does what I wanted it for. The leather is kinda thin but it seems well made. I don't know how it will hold up. I had Don Hume duty gear years ago and it held up well enough.

Don Hume took up leather working as a hobby while in the navy. After
the navy he was a deputy sheriff in southern California. and made holsters
in his garage.

After Sam Myres died, Bill Jordan got a trademark for the Jordan Border
Patrol holster. He gave the exclusive right, to use the trademark, to Don
Hume.

The Jordan holsters and belts, I believe, gave Hume the business he
needed to quit his deputy job, moved to Oklahoma, and built a plant
in Miami, Oklahoma.

I have a few of Don Hume's holsters and really like them. Sturdy built and well made. an Avenger style for my 5" 1911, Jordan Trooper for my 2 1/2 " 19/66 and a duty style for my 19-8 4", 2 Jits for 19/66 snub and one for Glock 26- my 3913 called it home when I still had it. Both Jits retired. All ride on a Comtac Kevlar re-inforced gun belt- shown with the 1911.

I've bought a dozen or so Hume's over the years. My latest one
was a S&W model 39 holster I bought for the Star BM I picked up.

After wetting it with isopropol alcohol I put the pistol in it and let it
air dry. Perfect fit!!.

Very good holsters.

What does the alcohol do that plain warm water wouldn't do?
