Background checks did stop the Sandy Hook shooter from purchasing a firearm (his refusal to fill out the paperwork).
However, background checks did NOT stop him from murdering the lawful owner of firearms and stealing them.

One more gun law must be the answer.

I'm not fooled, not the least little bit. The gun handling exhibited by the Prius driving actor would get him thrown out of any supervised shooting range and I suspect would have him charged with Brandishing in many communities. Absolutely ZERO trigger disclipline and what the heck is the breech doing closed on that shotgun away from a legitimate firing line.

One has to wonder if adam lanza would have passed a background check since his health records are most likely not tied to the system.

If I'm not mistaken Lanza was 20 and not of legal age to own a gun in CT (someone can correct me here). His mother was the legal owner of the weapons and he stole them, murdered her, transported loaded firearms in vehicle, entered a gun free zone with loaded weapons, broke into the school and then committed more murder. Call me crazy but I'm thinking another law would have helped much

I believe it's 21 years old to obtain a handgun permit in order to purchase and possess a handgun, but I can't find the age limit for a long gun. I think it's only 18 with 2 week waiting period. No permit needed for a long gun in CT now.

He needs absolutely no permit to steal the firearms...

it is funny to watch old Miami Vice episodes and see Crockett walking around with his finger on the trigger of his Smith and Wesson all the time. I am just waiting for him to shot himself in the foot. That commercial is on in my state as well, I wish we would pass open carry so that would piss them off as well. Unfortunately the East Coast DC up and California share a different view as to what America is suppose to be than normal middle American flyover states as they call them.
