I have never loaded any wadcutters before, have no knoledge of them. I am wondering the advantages and the difference between a double ended cutter and a hollow based version. Thanks for any and all info the forum can educate me with.

The first thing is that hollowbase wadcutters can be deformed during loading. So if you are just getting into WC's, it is best to go with the double-ended. When you get a feel for the WC loading process and are comfortable, give the HBs a try.

I have used both and I am not a good enough shot to tell the difference. Theoretically the hollow base will expand upon firing for a very good seal with the barrel. Also with most of the weight in the front of the bullet, it should be more accurate. The double ended are a lot easier to cast.

HBWC are mostly swaged from soft lead, the base allows for easy obturation as it will easily seal to the cylinder mouth and barrel with lighter loads. HBWC should not be pushed to hard as the bullet skirt can separate from the main forward portion of the bullet leaving a possible obstruction.
DEWC are mostly cast and hardness varies, they usually have beveled bases and do not obturate easily.
I prefer HBWC and BBWC that are swaged, the BBWC can be pushed harder.
