Dreaming of an M&P in 10mm

I don't really see it happening, the 10mm is a niche cartridge, where as the M&Ps are meant to be practical service and self defense pistols. Check out the Glock 20.

My fear about a 10MM in the M&P format is the nasty loads that seem to have started the program. I'm not sure S&W would want to market a gun that couldn't handle those, and that could get both expensive, and onto another frame design....

Just IMHO.... It might be fun.... :D

Regards,

I too would love to have an M&P in 10mm. I have a G20 and I like the ergonomics of the M&P line. I have almost given up hope that they will do something like that. In the meantime, I am considering a Sig 220 ST conversion that they are doing over at the sig forum.

"I'd sure like to see an M&P made in 10mm"

Me, too.

"I know it's not going to happen"

Me, too. :(

I think Smith would be surprised on how many 10MM M&P's they'd sell. I know I d buy one.

I think someone should give G20 a run for its money. I had a g20 and my 1076 is way more accurate than a G20 with a 6" barrel.
For the time being the Eaa makes a hunter version that is really nice

Sign me up for one! I would definately be in line to buy a polymer framed 10mm that said "Made in USA" on the side. I would bet Glock does well with their G20 sales.

I would buy one. For me, it would likely be the gateway to the rest of the M&P line.

One never knows what S&W will do. Who would have ever thought that they would produce a Scandium N-frame revolver chambered in 10mm with a 2.5" barrel? I wouldn't have -- but there it is, the S&W 310 Night Guard. They'll undertake a project like that (I don't think they are flying off the shelves), maybe they would undertake an M&P 10mm that would actually sell!

All that is needed is a new breechface on the slide, a new barrel, and an altered magazine -- certainly an easy engineering change with their CNC machining capability.

If someone would produce an aftermarket barrel for the M&P 45 in 10mm, I bet I could modify the existing magazines to make it work.

I've successfully converted a SigArms Mauser M2 as well as a new production AMT BackUp (currently made by High Standard in Houston) from .40 S&W to 10mm by modifying the barrels and magazines. Both of those were originally designed and built upon a .45 platform -- so it could be done.

Me too. I have been a closet 10mm fan for years. An M&P10 with a five-inch barrel would be terrific - adjustable rear sight on mine, too, please. :)

I would buy one. S&W owns the 10mm revolver market but they should take back the 10mm semi-auto mantle.

I'd by one in a heart beat, I already have a 1076, 610 and a 310. I asked their sales rep if they ever planned on making a M&P in 10mm last year but he wouldn't say one way or the other.
