Drones

I’m sure most people know about realtor photographers using drones for flyover pics of the house/property. IMO the pictures sell the properties just as well or better than the human interaction. There are a ton of pretty good photographers on this Forum; all the video gamers, etc., can finally use those thumbs to earn money. Being retired and on my fixed income, if I needed the cash I would learn to drive one. My helicopter makes too much noise!

I had a home inspector looking at the property next door and he was using a drone to inspect the roof.

Similarly, I turned in an insurance claim for roof damage due to hail and the insurance inspector used a drone to inspect my roof as well. He said it was a whole lot safer and efficient that pulling out a ladder and climbing up on people's roofs.

I bought a pretty nice one for my kid for his birthday a few years ago, but he rarely flies it, despite the fact that he is majoring in Unmanned Aircraft Systems at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott. Kids, go figure.

New businesses are popping up using drones to track and find injured game during hunting season. As of now its illegal in Pa to do so. It's being discussed to change that law.

On a few occasions I have been hired to rescue a drone out of tall trees. It's always been wind related.

I got a DJI Mini 4 Pro last week and was playing with it this week end. I did get the 2 year insurance with it as well. Haven't decided on getting a license yet but looking at the study material has given me a much better understanding of the legalities of flying whether licensed or not.

The drone itself is very cool and easy to operate. I went to one of our state parks and was really impressed with how easy it was to operate and quality of the video it took.
