Does anyone know when the DSC took over the allocation of all shipments of S&W revolvers to non-military users? Pate's book vaguely mentions September 1941.

Later than that. I don‘t have an exact date, but we have direct shipped guns to other destinations into Jan. 1942.

It may coincide with the executive order freezing all civilian sales from around that time.

… Pate's book vaguely mentions September 1941.

Did you look at the chronology in Appendix D (P. 317)? It outlines the steps, with first communications indeed in September. But there is nothing definite about when exactly the DSC had control over ALL non-military production.

This is an old thread, but I have a new related question. With respect to the Defense Supplies Corporation (DSC), does anyone have information related to DSC records, such as what was shipped through the DSC to whom and when? I ask this because I recently acquired a Winchester Model 1897 that was shipped in 1941 to Wolf Creek Ordnance (later Milan) in Kentucky (I have reason to assume by the DSC), and several friends have what were likely DSC guns, but there seems to be a big void in information related to the DCS. Can anyone provide any information about DSC records (what was requested, what was shipped to whom, etc.)?
