Dumb ammo question

The problem with factory loads is, it's hard to know what powder is used and what it's burn rate is. The powder is what causes the boom and probably effect recoil as much as anything. As another person commented, grab a hand full of different types. shoot at least three at a time, make notes. Have a friend load them in your mag's and take the Pepsi taste test. Have a friend give you a few of theirs in different configurations, trade swap until you find one you like then stick with it. different bullets will hit your target in different spots too. A low recoil load may be your least accurate. Not definitely, but possibly.

Two bullets, launched at the same speed, the heavier one needs more powder for the same speed. In actuality, the heavier the bullet, the less powder used. Since the heavier bullet takes longer to get moving, the same amount of powder would cause a much higher pressure spike which could be dangerous. A heavier bullet will impact with the same force at a slower speed. Since less powder is used to load a heavier bullet, less 'bang' POSSIBLY resulting in less perceived recoil. As has been suggested, try rounds from both ends and see/feel for yourself. My experience is heavier generally seem to shoot softer although I think you'll find it isn't that much of a difference.
