The French have been stepping up against the pirates. First they killed those that took the French yacht and now this operation. Hats off to them for doing what's right.

The greatest triumph by the French Navy since:

1. It scuttled itself at Toulon rather than actually fight; and

2. It allowed itself to be shelled into oblivion in port rather than come out and fight.

It seems the French have finally regained their concept of "L'offense sur l'outrance" for the first time since WWI.

This anti pirate patrol crap gets old. How many stories have been printed where boats were stopped and the pirates were released becasue they were not attacking a ship flying the flag of the patrol boats particular country. There needs to be
some sort of international agreement that allows a patrol boat to hold and arrest the pirates they capture.

I know, but it's still fun to pick on 'em.

Toyman,
The only "agreement" that needs to happen is the agreement that every last mothers son of them is left with their bilge plugs pulled. And a cheery parting of "have a nice day"!

Yes; violating another nation's sovereignty, destroying a civilian vessel and killing one of its crewman in a surreptitious attack - truly an example of French "elan!"

The French have a LOT more pirates to neutralize to make up for past embarrassments.

Boy, I'm glad I didn't say that!
But, well said.
