Dustpan for brass collecting brass at the range

My local indoor range has gotten rid of their dustpans for scooping up brass. I thought I would get a small dust pan and whisk broom to take with me. As I was thinking about this I thought about drilling some holes in the dust pan or trying to cut some slots in it to cut down on the dust and .22's. Has anyone else tried this and if so what size holes, slots, etc. are best. Or does something like this already exist and I just haven't found it yet?

Sweeping up the dust in an indoor range is hazardous due to the lead in the dust.
Some indoor ranges have gone to only having the range swept after hours by an employee wearing a protective mask, in order for the employees to pass the required lead blood tests.

I think this is something that OSHA is hitting all over the country. Our indoor range just did away with the brooms and now has an employee do it with the mask.

Sure makes it tough to pick up your brass!

I wear a 3M respirator with large filters at my indoor range. Lead bullets are allowed and the ventilation system does not move the airborne stuff all that fast. I get some strange looks, but when someone asks I tell them to blow their nose after their shooting session to see why. I have a dustpan in my range bag that I use to push the brass into a pile and then scoop it up. I don't worry about what I breathe, the respirator doesn't let anything through that I can detect on my person.

Ahhh... the wonderful world of dogs. I've been considering one of the little rakes & pans for my range gear. I already have one for the yard, but I don't think they'd enjoy me bringing THAT one to the range...

The rake will sweep brass without raising too much dust & my guess is that it would probly leave the .22 behind.
