When I started my LEO career in 1962 Jess Harpe was were the LEOs went to purchase Their S&W service revolvers. Jesse was the local S&W distribution center. S&W Model 10 blued was $48.80 to LEOs.

Larry...The six 44 Magnums, seven Combat Magnums, one .22 Combat Masterpiece, and three Bodyguards, with excise tax, were invoiced to Mr. Harpe at $1,176.55. He could deduct 2% for a cash payment in 10 days.

Thanks for the information, Bill. Obviously, the amount Mr. Harpe paid sounds awesome, and as raljr1 figured ($13,000 in today's funds) many believe it to still be a bargain. Thanks for sharing.
