That is about as early as they get. Probably rubbed elbows with K101 at the factory.:) I can not see the MADE IN USA stamping, but assume it is there?

Your new pictures makes things much clearer, nice Masterpiece.

Just when a body thinks he has accomplished something someone comes along and has a "One Up-man ship" Post to burst the bubble, frankly I'd be very proud of either and dearly love the K on yours & his(COYOTEHUNTER) as compared to later produced versions! Both are breathing Rarefied Air at this time! I'm looking for K-101 so I can do a little Crowing myself!!!! Enjoy guys and be very proud!
 
Smitholdtimer... I of course meant to take nothing way from Mitch. I am very, very happy for him and his find. Early K-22's are really something special! :)

Of course I knew you were not and I wasn't trying to insinuate that you were. If and when K-101 comes into my possession I shall be very hard to hold and may even become over bearing for a while but eventually I'll hope settle back to earth!
Do you give K-117 any exercise or has it become a "Safe" Couch Potato? My preference is one I can shoot and use to teach my grandchildren the safe handling of hand guns. Well, after having made this statement the low numbers are always welcome and shall not be shunned. Again, I salute you both!!!!!

Rumor has it that the first 25 K-22s were made on a Friday afternoon and the following Tuesday morning after a three day holiday weekend.....so they were slapped together by workers trying to rush out the door for a cold one; or by hung-over gunsmiths....... so at 130 you got a good one!!!!!

LOL...... great find; that's one to be proud of!!!!


If anyone ever post RM #2 .......I have no doubt we will finally see a picture of RM #1 posted before that day is over.....LOL
 
Early 1947 was probably a very busy time at the S&W plant with cartloads of new post war K22 frames moving from station to station prior to being wheeled into the vault and await shipment to eagerly awaiting customers.
My only 3 digit K324 has seen some hard use since Feb 1947 but still locks up like a vault and is one of my favorite shooters.

Did they make any narrow rib (pre 1955 ) tapered barrel 8.3/8" K-22's ?
I have only seen them on the wide rib frames .

Roys recent post has me dreaming of cutting one back to a 4" with a Patridge FS.
On a side note a closer look at the early post war K22 FS position and set back reveals they are quite unique and different than later versions.



kinda similar to the pre war Reg Mag FS.

Those yellow perch (we call 'em "red fin trout" down here) are also excellent! They're pretty boney as well. Are you and Mike (lowhog) fishin' in the same hole? He e-mailed me a pic of a similar mess that he caught a week or so ago. :D

Bobby, I doubt it! This is a super secret spot chokkerblock full of Crappie, Northerns, Bucket Mouthed Bass and Perch, both Yellow and Silver. Only fished for a few hours Friday night and put back as many as I kept. Didn't see another car, let alone boat all evening... :)

You have pushed the envelope too far with your secret fishing spot! :D:D:D You will not beat this ultra-rare Masterpiece. It was made 7 numbers before the first Masterpiece! Plus, the revolver carries a set of one-of-a-kind mahogany stocks.
