Model 29, S200201, shipped in early May 1960 in a mahogany presentation case (clamshell interior). It is an early case as demonstrated by the latches on it that are the same as those used on the blue presentation cases. I am certain there are more cases like this one, but it is the only one I have seen. Click on the photos for a better look.

Beautiful 29 and case. I find it interesting that the stain is light as it seems most mahogany you see is satined dark Years ago I worked near a highly proteted old growth mahagany forest. One man was allowed to harvest and make items from dead limbs, etc. It was intersting to see the range of colors of the items he made. Great find on your part.

Richard...The case you have is one of the earliest for a 44 Magnum with an 8 3/8-inch barrel. It has the cloth lining like that used for the blue cases was replaced by the clamshell case I posted above. The unique features of the one I posted are the old style latches and clamshell interior.
