Early Preparations For Isaac.

Still raining like crazy here by Ft.Lauderdale. This is one wet storm, Most of my yard is under water but my home has a high pad. My street always goes under. Thank God I had the forethought to make the property so high. My shop is another story. It's getting close.

My thought and prayers go to you guys that are gonna see this next. Stay safe.

It's windier now than this morning. The rain bands come and go. Sun was out then rain. Nothing bad, less than regular summer thunderstorms. Weird.

In the aftermath and months after Katrina, several of the new 'starter-grade' apartments in the city where I worked were made into 'Section 8' housing and about 75% of the residents were 'refugees' from N.O., LA.
That particular area went from fairly quiet and peaceful to a 911 hot spot.
Lots of families that HAD been living there had to move to escape the new clientele.

Cantore any day. I'll take the IRS audit!

I just went out to the shop and pt the mower up on blocks along with everything else that might be damaged.

3 more inches and its gonna flood.

Weird storm to say the least. I've never had to do prep. after a storm is supposed to be over.

I've been watching the "bands" and those of you on the east coast and central part of the state(Florida) have been getting a ton of rain. Here, in Tampa, just been cloudy all day. Bet we haven't even gotten an inch of rain, yet?!

Since these storms are a giant PIA and they never know where they're going till they get there they should be named after females only. Like it used to be.

Seems the hurricane is literally passing over my house as the tentative route shows.

Got food, water, gas, and defenses ready. We are staying out the storm.

What would you put in a emergency bag?

CAJE,

Thanks for the link.

That festival is something for sure.
I have worked back and forth in the French Quarter for 6 years.

From a news source on the net - "...the airport, Superdome and convention center in New Orleans would not serve as emergency shelters like they did during Hurricane Katrina."

I would hope that nothing would ever again serve as an emergency shelter like the Superdome did during Katrina

I'm confused. Wasn't the Cone of Uncertainty that thing Maxwell Smart and the Chief used to get into on Get Smart?

I bet the Texans will have a tough time deciding which border to guard!

I'd think if they lined up all of them politicians south of town and told them to start practicin' their speeches, they could blow ol Isaac plumb down to Venezuela.

Heck, me and Caj (being lawyers and such) could do that
by ourselves, even on a bad day -- on a good day, we could convince that hurricane it was an Arctic cold front:D

Thanks a lot Charlie:rolleyes:

Now I have to get off my lazy butt and do stuff:D

Nah, I flipped a coin;)

"Living Somewhere in the Cone of Uncertainty"

Well....you shouldn't have any trouble figuring out where you are at everyday....the same place you where at yesterday. You can be certain about that....:p

Heck, steer that storm towards Texas, we need some rain. The worst trouble I ever got into was when my Uncle said "Lets go to Corpus Christi and see what a hurricane looks like". My brothers and I loaded up some ice chest, raided the panty, and left a note for my mom and dad telling them where we went!! This was in the early 70's, we had fun and man our butts got whipped good when we got home!! Even our Uncle got a whoppin!!

"raided the panty"

I am not even gonna ask you to explain that!

Wind wasn't the problem with Katrina. It was water, and lots of it.

Problem wasn't wind or water -- it was the looters.

I intercepted quite a number of them -- reference:

"The Great Deluge" -- by Douglas Brinkley (pp 417 et seq)

Can't believe it will hit on Aug 29 (exactly 7 years after Katrina) -- it's like "deja vu all over again".
