I have a cousin in NJ 15 miles from epicenter.

Said the whole house shook, rattled, and that there was a lot of noise. Scary. He also said that it is reportedly the biggest in that area since 1783.

Been through countless earthquakes here. Most you can't feel. I have felt 2. One was a 4.2 that woke me up. I was back to sleep before the shaking stopped. One was the 2001 7.0 Seattle quake. Even here it shook the house and rattled the dishes in their cabinets. They tell us we're overdue for a 8-9 here. That would be catastrophic, given the number of older bridges we have that wouldn't stand for that much shaking.

Hope all is well "up nawth." I've been through three or four here in central Virginia during my life. Mostly they were just something didn't feel right, then I figured out what had happened. I remember the first one at my Grandfathers house when I was a youngster. It felt just like being on a boat and having a wake pass under the boat. We both looked at each other said "Did you feel that?" The most recent one was about 12? 15? years ago when I was living up in Spotsylvania. Never saw any damage from any of them.

I remember a few as a kid.one as a 10ry old on the second floor. Wth!? Years later we learned ours were caused by pumping whatever (chemical weapons?) ideep underground at Rocky Mountain Arsenal

My oldest is a Helo mech in the Philly area, he said it felt like a Blackhawk was landing on the hanger roof. S-I-L was in Atlantic City, NJ And felt it too.

No damage to anything we're connected with.

We felt it here in Central NJ, about 30 miles from the epicenter. My first. Where I was we thought maybe a heavy truck went by, but....

My sister lives about 18 miles from the epicenter in Jersey, with a 4.8 on the scale. She said the entire house shook, and scared the hell out of them. Luckily, no damage that they could find .

I've felt a few like that, including one in England. Those are no big deal.

Somehow I slept through the 1999, 7.1 magnitude Hector Mine quake down in the 29 Palms training area. My buddy said the light over his dining area hung from a vaulted ceiling was swinging in about a 12 ft arc. Most in Vegas felt the 7.1 Ridgecrest quake in 2019. My wife said her books were vibrating off the desk upstairs. I wouldn't mind betting that one finished off a joint in the drain system of the master bathroom.

I guess we here in California can't have all the earth-shaking fun. I hope everyone is ok and there are minimal damages. Seems odd the epicenter was in between Lebanon and Whitehouse (Not the presidential building) and in the county of HunterDon. Almost like my conspiracy theory mind went into hyper drive.
