* * Ebola Discussion

Ebola. ...You have to put the danger in perspective.I think in the time we first heard of the first case likely 200 or more good folks have died in the US from medical malpractice and add in a bunch more from complacations due to hospital induced infections. A lot of folks die every day in this country due to no fault of there own. I just hope the powers that be don't use the suffering from this terrible disease to write millions upon millions of dollars in hot checks our kids and grandchildren will have to pay..

yes, but there are a fairly regular number of physicians to kill people with malpractice. This will be a fairly fixed statistical constant.
Ebola, at this time, may be a significantly lower number.
unlike doctors, it's carriers are not a fixed constant.
Instead this number answers to an exponential multiplier, compounding daily like interest on a loan from a mafia loan shark.
Duncan exposed ( not necessarily infected) nearly 80 in a weeks time.
That was two weeks ago.
If each of the 80 matched his exposure performance, 80 can be as high as 6400 carriers in the first week.
The following week, mathematically, is a figure in the half million range.
thats the real danger here.
deadly diseases, are like a xerox machine of death wired on meth and rampaging. Thats what made these things desirable as weapons.

Wonder how this will affect the healthcare system, think it's going to raise our insurance rates? Well at least we get to keep our own plan and our own doctor...

I suspect that when all is said and done, we wont hear medical professionals say anything about being overworked.
It could establish a WHOLE new baseline

Is it just me or does that guy that came here with ,and died from Ebola, look a lot like the fraud sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandellas memorial service? I have ,for weeks, been trying to figure out who he looked like.

CDC Chief was a complete and total embarrassment on the Kelly File. Perhaps the worst part was him hopelessly trying to explain why a travel ban isnt a good idea, and charter flights can't bring supplies and medical personnel in and out to Africa.

She eased up on him halfway through the interview, perhaps fearing being arrested for assault and battery upon a helpless person.

I am surprised they can find pilots that will accept flights in and out of Africa.

Let's see ....from the in-depth world of the internet the past 18 months or so we have had.
1. "The govt. stockpiling coffins/body bags."
2. "FEMA camps"
3. "ABC's Federal agencies buying huge amounts of ammo"
4. "Military surplus items, Humvees' small tanks, etc, being sold/given
to State/County/City Police Dept's."
5. " Reality TV shows concerning "preppers".

Now... a self inflected possible pandemic.
Your conclusion's ?? Any connection ???

So far we are seeing a repeat of Nigeria. A Liberian brought the disease there, then there was a cluster of infections. These wete among health care eorkers and their spouses. Ebola transmits sexually, so a boyfriend or spouse getting it would not be unexpected.

They need to kill the dog though. I am unsure that the dog is properly isolated, it may still have contact with other dogs or humans.

The nurse is of Vietnamese ethnicity. It is theorized that Asians may be better off - the Black Death was there too- in terms of possible inherited immunity. I believe she will survive.

Number wise....25 million fatalities in America would be my guess if it truly gets out of hand.

I am surprised Dallas has not been cut off from the rest of the state. Much easier to contain now than when it starts appearing in other Texas cities. Has the mayor or governor mentioned anything about travel restrictions in and out of Dallas yet. Could be prudent. Not pc, but better safe than sorry. Can't wait for the feds to take action. Could declare state of emergency to handle situation properly. Will Texans wait for mayor and governor to do what should be done or take matters into their own hands?

I think you are thinking in too small of a scope.
We are rolling up into a season of major holiday travel.

I'll toss in a few links to some of the information on the subject.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, our own CDC site, with a somewhat sugar coated flavor, and distinct crunchy texture from the sand their heads are firmly planted in.

Seems my call out to get varminting at first word of it, was not at all misplaced.
Just seems that we have to add bats to the hit list.

Having closely watched the talking heads on the boob tube I'm thinking that the CDC knows more about the ebola virus than they are telling the people. We should not be letting flights of possibly infected people arriving in this country. And as for sending the marines into infected areas was a decision of the utmost stupidity. The world today as we know it has gotten to where folks can get on a plane and go anywhere, unfortunately that means to countries where this virus is running rampant. Ever see one of those plague movies where they try and locate patient zero?. Well that time has long passed and I'm afraid that this country will pay dearly, I sincerely hope to God I'm wrong and that this disease here in this country will be limited to the few people that have been affected so far. That poor young nurse and her boyfriend my heart goes out to them and hope that they get cured. Maybe I'm wrong about this and I hope that I am. If not then we are in deep trouble. Frank

Another health care worker in Dallas confirmed with Ebola. Quarantine the state now. Nothing in or out of Texas for at least 21 days. This is getting rediculous. What is it going to take for the governor to act? Too many people at risk. National guard at the borders now!

Thankful the young nurse that was denigrated by the egghead is doing better...even the pup seems to be ok so far.....Maybe we now will look at this horrible disease as it should have been from the first....Maybe just maybe we as a nation can come to a reasonable results, and stop this in its infancy....I am glad the egg head has at least backed off his out of place statements,, Maybe he has learned something,,,,I am afraid their is a lot to learn about this disease....My uneducated opinion is ...stop travel from the extreme effected areas at least past the incubation period.....Just my opinion I think we have enough in country problems right now....not to mention the ISIS problem that seems to be getting worse....
