The last few days I've been getting phone calls from a 593 area code.
I never answer my phone unless I know who is calling, so I looked up the area code and found it doesn't exist in the U.S.
The closest to an ac of 593 is Ecuador.
Do they have princes with lots of lotto money to give away in Ecuador?
Should I answer the call?

How about you folks? Getting any strange calls?

I got one from that area code a few hours ago. I deleted it immediately as soon as they said something about my credit card with them. Luckily I DO happen to know I never have and never will, have more than one credit card because I dont want them. Also, I do know who mines from and such. :-))

I would advise no. Lot's of scams going now and they may be trying a new twist.

Unless you know someone in Ecuador.:D

It is a scam. I got one from them and the message mentioned something to do with credit cards. Before the message went more that 2-3 seconds-I hung up then deleted the number.

Dear kindest of Sirs
Due too the facts of extremest of unrest in ours small country.
Princes Rotincrotch is in needs of transferring sums of 5 millions of dollars ...................:D:D:eek::eek:

I never answer a call from an area code I don't recognize, or any toll-free number. If it's important enough they'll leave a message. If not, they know the drill if they can't take a joke.

If they do leave a message I'll decide whether I have any interest in returning the call. I almost never do.

Caller ID is a fine, noble thing.

answering machine "leave a message and I will call you back, or maybe not."

I wouldn't answer, write or even acknowledge anything from Nigeria..Period, Period, and did I say PERIOD...Years ago I worked a case where a local car (roll-back) hustler was encouraged to produce 20 or more late model cars to Nigeria....He received a check for a large deposit 10% from the "Nigeria government" for good faith. The rest of the story is sort of you had it coming, or It takes a thief to con a thief...He ships a bunch of roll back late model auto's to Nigeria many he bought wholesale from the Tuscan, Phoenix area, and had the speedo's rolled back to comply with the mileage requirements from Nigeria. He fle2w opver on the day the ship with the auto's arrived in Nigeria..The cars were of course let in the country but guess who was left with a funny look on his face at Port of Entry...You guessed it he was put back on the plane for home...No more money, No more cars, and the moral of this story is of course...Sometimes there is a strange form of Justice...The screw-er became the screwed.

When I see a number I don't recognize I always worry it's a forum member coming to California and needs a place to stay.

My wife and I were so counting on you too! I thought maybe I just had the number wrong. I told her: "Sip will take us to Disneyland. He's well known all over the State." She was so excited. Now what am I going to tell her?

Okay. It was me. Just pick up the phone and accept the charges, you cheapskate.

I'm stuck here and just need bus fare. Things are getting ugly, because they're saying I damaged their rainforest. I knew I shouldn't have worn that Texaco shirt. Live and learn, I guess.

Just SEND THE MONEYZ!
