Haven't shot or carried it yet, so I very well might keep them for EDC, but...if I were to switch them, what would you suggest? I have fairly large hands and might like a bigger grip.

Suggestions for:
1) Larger Wood Grips (aesthetically pleasing yet functional)

2) Synthetic

Thanks Again.

You might try a set of targets like the ones on the bottom M63 or the grips that are standard on the M60 Pro, top pic. The Pro grips can be ordered directly from S&W for around $45, if in stock. They both fit RB butt J frames.

For synthetic grips, you might consider pachmayr compac grips Pachmayr&reg Pachmayr your primary source for quality handgun grips and recoil pads or hogue monogrips. Both enclose the backstrap.

For wood grips, in addition to the grips that markeb showed, some grips that completely enclose the backstrap, like those made by Sile and Jay Scott, are often available for sale via ebay at low cost.

FYI, there are some very reasonably priced sets of J frame target grips in the for sale section today, if you are interested.

It's always been super hard for me to find either nice grips or a holster for the 36 with 3" barrel and square butt. . .as in near impossible. When I bought the gun for my wife back in 1979 I bought a pair of the S&W combat grips. They are not my favorite for several reasons, but I saw a pair on EBAY yesterday at a price that was not insane. The factory combat grips have gotten very expensive. . .they are pretty wood though.

I vote for a set of Badger's if you like finger grooves (think you can send in a outline of your hand and they will custom make them to fit.)

Or a set of Pachmayr Compac's if you want synthetic.

A grip adapter from BK or Tyler would also be nice to try.

I had to go find the gun they are now on. Here's a picture. They fit the bill when it comes to size for larger hands. I just always thought they were a little too large for such a small gun.

I think I may have JUST what you're looking for. I have a pair of Herretts Shooting Star grips for a round-butt M36. Here is a picture of them. They look a little large on a snub, but I always thought they would look just right on a 3". Send me a PM if you're interested...

I don't own a Model 36, but I do carry a newer Model 640 (.38 Special). I found an older set of Hogue grips for mine, and they're great! These are the older type, and you have to remove the grip pin from the bottom of the grip frame. These type are not neoprene, and they provide just the right amount of traction. You might find a set on eBay, or at a LGS.

Lots of good suggestions already. I carry a J-frame more than anything else. I had Spegels on it for years. Currently, I have grips just like the diamond ones in your picture, but with a Tyler T-Grip. Like the Spegels just fine, just wanted a change. :)

You could get a set of the wood grips that S&W ships on the M60 pro.

They are larger, and look nice.

You can find the S&W part number on this forum, and then order them. I ordered two sets a few months aback and they came quickly.
