Mine has been a Shield 9mm IWB daily for over a year. Today I wore a suit and needed to remove my weapon several times. I elected to carry my Kimber Compact CDP in a Galco paddle holster. 27 oz dry. Felt like a brick and was concerned about printing all day long. I've carried concealed since 1974 and carried the Kimber for the last 10 years. My BUG was a Colt Gov't .380 It is amazing to me that the Shield has revolutionized concealed carry. Anyone else notice this phenomenon?

It's been awhile but when I started as a LEO in '68 I carried my 4" service .38 off-duty until I saved enough for a smaller gun. The minute I put on that Colt Cobra what a world of difference, so I know what you're talking about.

M&P 40 FS or Sig P250 40 when I can carry a double stack.
If in shorts and in need for a single stack, then a Khar cw9, Walther PPS 9, or Ruger LC9.

Sorry for sounding like the newbie here(since i do not conceal carry due to living in MD) but what makes the shield so much better than the compact? i have a M&P9 Full size and it seems plenty small for conceal carry...but again i have no prior experience

For me the big advantage is how thin the shield is. I don't have a compact, but I do have a FS MP9. The difference in feeling between carrying the FS and the shield with the 7rd mag is huge. I am always self conscious of printing with the FS and the Shield just disappears.

I carried a Sigma 40VE until I purchased a full size M&P 40 from an LEO friend & while waiting for my M&P 40C to be shipped. Now that's my EDC but the other two will still fit into the rotation, at least until the Sigma is sold. My buddy wants it but is on vacation & wasn't home when the compact finally came.
