Ejector, cylinder removal

I, just this weekend,acquired what I believe to be two pre-war revolvers, I am unable to loosen the cylinder for removal so I am in the market for a speciality tool used for removing, tightening-loosening the cylinder(from the ejector rod). I have seen them for sale for the "J", the "K", & the "N" frame from Midway USA or Brownwell's but am unable to locate them now(cannot remember what they are called), can anyone help? Thanks,

It was called the Wessinger ejector rod tool.
Brownell's still sell it or a copy:

You can do without it as many pistolsmiths do.

Just put 3 EMPTY cases in the chambers. ( Do this no matter how you loosen or tighten the rod). Or buy the ejector support tool on the above link.

Put the ejector rod in a brass or lead padded vise and unscrew the rod. Remember that early rods were right hand thread, rods made later are left hand thread.
Your pre-wars are probably right hand thread.

Some people use a loose drill chuck to grip the end of the rod, but be careful about scarring it up.

On my M-14 I am able to unscrew the ejector rod and the ejector, now what? How do I get the cylinder off?

TO REMOVE THE CYLINDER REMOVE THE SIDE PLATE SCREW ON THE RIGHT SIDE UNDER THE CYLINDER.
