Electricity into a safe

I have a cabinet and wanted to put a dehumidifier and light in side. I used an under the counter fluorescent light fixture with two very powerful maginets from the hardware store. The magnets are threaded and fit in the holes provided on the light fixture. It is mounted just inside the cabinet. Works like a charm and is easy to remove to replace the lamp. I had to cut the plugs off to get through the supplied hole and used connectors with screw terminals, in case I had to remove them.

Well, the idea of doing it from the inside got me motivated.

I'll have to look at the different lighting ideas and make a decision later as to just how I want to approach that. A lot of good ideas and advice here.

I don't have one of those goldenrod things yet. Do they do anything other than generate heat? If not, I may just continue to run my stereo in it. Or maybe not.

Depending on how cool and humid the environment is the safe is located, your cheapest and possibly(?) best solution, may be to run a 15 W oven or refrigerator bulb in it, 24/7? Once the interior is brought up a few degrees in temperature, it's much easier to evaporate the moisture. For laughs, buy a cheap thermometer/ relative humidity gauge combo at a Dollar Store or the like. Put the 15 W bulb, and the meter pair into a safe like sized enclosure. Do not disturb for 48 hours and see what the numbers read when re-opened as opposed to what they read when put in.
(EDIT) I'm just jealous of the lighting Von! Alas, electric lighting wasn't yet available when I was eighteen?

When I was stationed in Korea, I used an incandescent lamp (standard screw in light bulb) to keep my clothing from mildew-ing (is that a word?). Worked fine, but every time there was an inspection, it got unplugged.

It's pretty apparent to me that your "problem" is an inappropriate volume of air.

You NEED GUNS...LOTs of them. When you fill that safe with guns you'll displace that humid air and reduce the need to de-humidify...place a low wattage bulb/Golden Rod in there and you'll be good to go...

The KEY...is LOTS of guns!
