There was also a large bank in Omaha which quit issuing NRA credit cards.

I just saw there is already another thread on that topic.

I try to keep track of businesses that don't go along with my point of view and do my best to not do business with them. Same with the places that prohibit conceal carry even if I am not,gun free zones are dangerous.

Too bad.
I USED to rent from Enterprise while on vacations.
The man who started the car rental company was a sailor who served on her in WW2. Hence the name.

I guess I'll rent from Avis unless they do something stupid too.

Chub Insurance has just announced that it will not underwrite NRA gun owner insurance after March. There will be more disavowals before this is over.

This is the sort of thing that WILL impact us. If it becomes more and more difficult to insure personal property, it becomes a higher risk to own. NRA membership includes a small base amount of insurance of firearms. A lot of homeowners policies will not cover them unless scheduled at a cost.

A little bit at a time .....

Symantec has announced it is ending its software discounts to NRA members. That is the fourth in 2 days. More to come for sure.

Now there are more:

Wyndham Horels, Best Western, Met Life, Simplisafe, and Hertz are ending their NRA relationships. There will still be more to come.

I just fired off a few zingers at Enterprise telling them what I think of them doing this. And you know, I never used my NRA discount in the past when renting a car from them. But they arbitrarily decided to poop all over myself and 5 million other NRA members just because we belong to an organization that protects our constitutional right to own and bear arms. The NRA isn't perfect, but there is no other organization that even comes close to doing what they do to guaranty that we can have our guns and help deflect all the anti-gun nutjobs out there.

BTW, I did let them know that in the future I will use their competition instead of them, even though that is more inconvenient to me.

I will not be posting in this thread again. I have just had a thread deleted because it was considered bashing the NRA, whine is actually prohibited by the rules of participation here. So I am not going to mention the NRA again. I will post something abou the incident in the Lounge a bit later today.

I believe Chubb is also the carrier for NRA Carry Guard Insurance too. I've no doubt another insurance carrier will step in and welcome millions of dollars in legal business from law abiding citizens with wide open arms.

Hello Chubb, got a news flash for you, criminals don't buy firearm insurance. Law abiding citizens buy it for protection from criminals.

!st Bank Card will not renew their contract with the N R A . When I cancelled their service I was careful to insure that last nights $100.00 contribution to the N R A will be on my bill .

You had a post deleted, not a thread. A thread is a bunch of posts made on the same subject. For a thread to be yours, you have to start it. Just thought I'd clear that up for you.

Obviously, the NRA is losing financial support as various companies disassociate themselves fro the NRA.
That will hurt in the coming months. I believe we will be facing more encroachments on the 2A, and it takes money to fight that.
Now is not the time for NRA members and gun owners to bicker among themselves. The antis will love seeing that. They know a house divided will not stand.
Now is the time to support the NRA, and hope and pray we can preserve the 2A.

This board IS Pro NRA.
That is written into our Terms of Service:
WE ARE PRO NRA
We support The National Rifle Association. We believe The NRA is the biggest and best dog in the fight to protect gun rights and the Second Amendment. You may not believe that, but this board is not your platform for NRA bashing.
In plain terms: NRA bashing is NOT allowed. Take it somewhere else.

We try to help grow membership and we encourage financial support for them.
So, no, I will not be providing a platform for slowing the growth of the NRA.
I have chosen my side, and I'm playing to win. When the fight is over and the smoke clears, we can work toward improving the NRA. That is, if we still have a 2A and there is any need for an NRA.

If that offends anyone's idea of the 1st Amendment and Freedom of Speech, I'll say again what I said years ago here-

A Note on Freedom of Speech

which says:
We hear a lot about "MY Freedom of Speech can't be restricted!!!"

Some people seem to be unaware that Freedom of Speech is limited in many ways, every day.
If you are not aware of that, you can test it by walking into any courtroom tomorrow when court is in session and start giving a speech. Ignore the silly judge telling you to be quiet.
Try giving a speech from the balcony in the Senate chamber of your State capital while they are in session. Tell the Security types that you have Freedom of Speech.
Those buildings are owned by 'the people', aren't they?
So, how can they limit your Freedom of Speech?

You can also try it on private property.
Jump onto a table in a restaurant and speak or preach away.
Enter a private clinic and tell them you'll be speaking all day about your views on morality and religion.
Ask local churches if they plan on giving equal time to speakers for a totally different religion, or worshipers of Satan, or Wicca.

Since you believe in Freedom of Speech, do you adhere to the principle in your own home?
Do you allow anyone who rings your doorbell in to speak about political parties or ideologies or religions different from your own beliefs?
If not, are you violating THEIR freedom of speech?

You may be getting it by now-

ARRRGH!

All you guys do by cancelling the NRA branded cards before the date of the end of the current deal is REDUCE the power of the NRA to get a good deal to move in with another card provider.

When they shop for a new provider, they approach with "We have X card holders we want to move to your bank - make us a deal". If lots of folks bail out now, they (NRA) have less leverage when taking the batch somewhere else.

Whatever benefits the NRA gets from your card die when you close it. Otherwise they would continue until the termination date, and then potentially move with the herd, or whatever is left of it.

If the deals aren't there, and the NRA says it is over for the cards, then cancel and tell them why.

If you want to be angry with the bank, that's fine. We all should be. But a co-branding park of customers has an economic value to the NRA that we should not waste.

I will be making a list over the next several weeks of the companies that are bailing on us when we need them the most. I will be informing them that in the very near future they can no longer count on me spending my hard earned money on their products and or services.

Yes, they do love it, no question about it. If forum members think the anti-gun movement isn't monitoring gun forums like this one, you're living in a dream world.

That isn't paranoia on my part, by the way. Reading members' comments on gun forums is the smart thing for them to do. Just like us monitoring upcoming legislation or anti-gun rants by millionaires and politicians. Same difference.

Now is the time to support the NRA, and hope and pray we can preserve the 2A.
