EOTECH?

I like the light weight of the 1522. The older larger EOTech designs are 3/4 pound.

and the above post is correct if you look at all your optics and the ones in the parts box that didn't fit/work for some reason!

If you go with the suggestions on the TRS-25, or Primary Arms red dots, not working or not fitting isn't an issue. Thousands of users have them on AR's, from .22lr up. I wouldn't spend that much for a non-magnified optic for a 15-22.

The optics Cypher mentioned are worth considering without much risk of unit failure. I've had a Primary Arms MicroDot for about four years. On the other hand, if you buy some of those EOTech clones or the tacticool death-ray zombie spinning 10 different reticles and 5 colors... laser, flashlight, red dot combos... there is no telling what junk you'll end up with.

There's always debate about dime store vs top shelf optcs. Sometimes its tough to justify a $500 or $600 red dot optic for the 1522, but when you buy the best they retain a fair amount of their original purchase price and you get to enjoy the use of a top shelf optic. Buy a dime store optic and they typically aren't worth enough to bother selling unless it is near new. I've got both Primary Arms and Aimpoint... there's a good case to be made for both.

You can buy knockoff Eotechs for under $40. They will not withstand the recoil of a AR, but I have had success on my 15-22. I have the real thing on my 15T and the knockoff has the same sight picture and works pretty good. There is a little ghosting, but not bad and it is not quite as bright. For the cost I am happy though.

Fakeotechs do work....have 3 on different 22s. Have 2 512s also. Also have a few Primary Arms micros as well. Also found 2 N cell operated Bushnell holo sights that look similar to eotechs on -bay. Take your time look around. Hope ya get it right the first time :). I have swapped sights so many times its not funny. Except for duty guns. They have and will continue to have the 512.

I wish to start out with the acknowledgement that I am new to the sport (< 5 years) and learning more every day. That said, I'm also a bit OCD, frugal, ............

This particular site is on sale for $29.99 and periodically will be $24.99. I put one on my 15-22 as part of my ongoing education and like it.

I like quality goods and I don't mind spending for the best when I feel I need the best. I also am not afraid of value price point items. Just my 2 cents.

Center Point™ Tactical Open Reflex Sight : Cabela's

Centerpoint is OK but a better and more reliable one is the TruGlo Dual Red/Green Reflex Sight which runs from about $50-$65. Sharper and brighter reticle patterns, especially in broad daylight. The key things a red dot type sight must have to be effective is sharp reticle patterns not fuzzy so that accuracy can be maximized and bright patterns that can be seen readily in daylight and don't fade into the background and become hard to pickup with your eyes. That and none of the issues these type of sight gets, mainly the intermittent dot syndrome and the rotating zero position over time problem.

The $102 price is MSRP. Seldom do they cost that much.
