Every day for this entire year I will post a old school printed gun advertisement.

I’ll tune in daily.

I traded a complete floor shift transmission linkage for a 51 Chevy for a used one of these in 22 LR. I thought I had made the deal of the century. I was wrong. What a mistake, pot metal with steel barrel and cylinder liners. It did not make it through the first brick of 22 shells.
I took it to a local gunsmith for repair and he gave me 10 or 15 dollars trade in on a New Ruger Convertible Single Six. I had a balance of less than $40.00 when I left the gun shop and I paid him off in about 2 months. I still have that Ruger and it looks as good today as it did when I got it.

When this ad first came out I remember thinking "Each magazine carried a whole box of ammo!"

In my kid world ammo came in 20 rnd boxes, and Federal Premium gold colored W/ red and black striped boxed pistol ammo came in the long slender 20 round boxes.

Your post made me feel like I'm one of the "Old Fellers" here.

It also made me smile!

Fantastic idea and thread, I’ll make sure to check it regularly

I’ll contribute with one of my favourite pistol. Someone mentioned that advertising the P7 as the most expensive pistol was not a good idea. Seems true as Glock’s success is largely based on the cheap cost of manufacture (and hence price).

I find it curious that HK says their excellent P7 barrel is built to last in excess of “10,000 rounds.”

10k for a pistol barrel? I’d be way beyond furious if I had a barrel related failure at/near/around 10-20,000 rounds.

Or maybe I’ll say it this way...
If I were a gun manufacturer and my goal for life span of my pistol barrel was 10,000 rounds, I would go to GREAT lengths to never say that out loud where anyone would ever hear it or read it. I would certainly never say that in a print ad showcasing my product.

Am I off base?

I have M1911's with probably close to 100,000 rounds through them.
