I have started carrying a small folder lately, and realized just how handy a blade is with all sorts of uses. I carry my car keys in my right front pocket, so a smaller blade doesn't scratch the keys nor my car's seat bolsters.

My son was over the other day, and I showed him my "carry blade" and he laughed and told me he and his wife were at a New Year's party the other evening and when the host's wife needed something sharp to open some appetizer, all the men standing around whipped out their pocket blades, causing lots of laughter among them.

I just have to remember to take my folder off when I toss my pants into the laundry basket.

All the best... SF VERT

Just got back into knives around 3 years back. My mind was blown after checking out how many styles and types are out there now. All the different steels to choose from is mind boggling. Sure has changed since I was a kid buying those $.89 folders from the corner store.

There's a great channel on YouTube called Jolly Peanut. The guy reviews all kinds of knives that he personally buys and usually demonstrates them in the field. They are not the big super expensive knives either, but mostly the really practical ones. By the way, Peanut is his dog.

I carry a pocket knife daily , usually a kershaw 3 1/4" blade
It is used mostly for sharpening pencils at work but I find many other uses for it throughout the day from pulling slivers to fixing a double feed jam in the 73 , or cutting a string line or opening the wrapper on a sub sandwich
You really can't ,not carry a knife :-)

I have been carrying a knife of some sort since I was 7 years old. Back then even the school teacher's would not even take notice.

I don't go anywhere without a knife - and not even for defensive purposes - just for cutting things. When I travel I throw one in my luggage for use at my destination.

I have had my knives washed more than a few times. My wife is fully aware of what one sounds like in the washer. :o A little oil and no harm.

I've been carrying a pocket knife since my dad gave me my first pocket knife when I was a teenager. I'm old now so that was a very very long time ago. I carry a Kershaw assisted open knife. Most excellent one handed opening for when the other hand is holding the box you need to open. And as SF Vet said, I have to remember to take it out of my pocket before it goes into the wash.

My birthday is in late January, In 7th grade I got a Case XX folder (two blades, bottle opener/screwdriver and a claw can opener. Been packing "In every day, In every way!" ever since. A teacher borrowed my knife and broke the point on one blade! Now, I don't allow people to borrow my knife, I will cut something for them!

My groomsmen got folding Bucks for helping out. A gift to my bride, a 24 function SAK, That I upgraded at our 20th anniversary, and she gave the 24 function to our daughter who carries that knife camping.

My sons and S-I-L got copies of a knife my dad carried since before I was born for Christmas two years ago.

I could always tell how serious the boys were about a girlfriend, by the type of knife they bought her. What good is a girlfriend without a knife? (Be careful before answering!)

We are a knife carrying family!

Ivan

I've carried mostly folders and or slipjoints, on a daily basis since 1979. Whether it's a Buck 110/112 in a belt sheath, a GEC slippy in my pocket or a CRK Sebenza clipped inside a front pocket I'm never without some kind of blade.

I have carried a folding knife-in a holster-before that a Swiss Army knife-for so long I forget when I started. Also a multitool-at present an older Leatherman.

Yes, I carry the same - been doing it for years. It is amazing how useful a Swiss Army knife can be at times - from pulling thorns from my Labs paws to slicing a box. Once the red cover broke and I sent it to Swiss and it sent me a replacement knife.

My carry knife, a Buck Stockman. Love the thing.
In the 90's our daughter joined the Peace Corps and was sent to Mali, West Africa on the edge of the Sahara desert.
Her village was 100 miles from the nearest electricity, running water or toilet paper and her only transportation to get between villages was a bicycle she was required to repair herself.
The Peace suggested buying a multi-purpose tool for the job so we bought her a Gerber with multiple blades and large pliers.
The first time she used it, the men in the village crowded around and were I awe of her knife, all asking if she would give it to them.
After that when a Peace Corps vehicle would take her to the Capital, Bamako for meetings, she would have to hide the Gerber in the thatched roof of her hut to keep it from developing legs and walking off.

Since we are among friends and with "every eye closed and every head bowed" I'll confess to carrying two pocketknives every day!

Yes, brethren, if I have long pants on I have a Swiss Army knife in the left front pocket and a single blade auto clipped in the rear-most part of my right front. Neither alone seems to fit all the circumstances.

I carry a 25 year old aluminum Kershaw. Great knife with a beautiful hollow grind. It will take a razor edge. I also carry Benchmade and Piranha autos. When out and about fishing etc, I carry a Ka-Bar 7 1/2" USN sheath knife. Can't bring myself to buy one of them Randalls:D

I also carry USA made Schrade pocket knives
