Every time I hear these speeches I think about a bug out bag...

I have been told you should have a bug out bag of some sort forthe obivious reasons - to bug out if the fertilizer hits the cooling element. Suggestions or opinions?

i suggest you have several flash drives in your b.o.b. with all your important documents and pictures saved on them a couple a knives a fixed blade for dressing game and heavy cutting chores. A smaller folding knife for small cutting chores and a multi tool. also a firearm that can be used for hunting game and personal defense extra ammo and cleaning gear for the firearm, and some extra clothes and a first aid kit.

I would think that would be a good idea depending on the reason and where you live. In a hurricane or flood prone area, one type of bag. In an area where there's the possibility of a riot, another type of bag. It's interesting to think about what you would put into such a bag, such as extra $, power bars, water, a gun and ammo, matches, flashlight, batteries, etc, etc.

In this economy who has extra $ ???

If the SHTF and I'm at home I'm staying put...if I'm somewhere else I'm going to try and get home. I'm on high ground that I can defend from all approaches. I've got lot's of cut wood for the fireplace if it's winter and there's no power. There's a little stream at the bottom of the hill I can get water from in the summer, or melt snow in the winter. I do keep some emergency gear stashed, but wouldn't leave my home unless it were uninhabitable and I had no choice. Even then, I'd rather put together some kind of shelter on my own patch of ground rather than try to bug out to parts unknown.

Listen to this. As I found out this week it does no good to do the work then leave the flash drives on you desk when you leave. Now I have to try to build an inventory list from memory to turn into the insurance.

I think this is crazy and ridiculous if you live where I am, however in a case where you may live in a place that could get flooded or hit by a tornado I do see the use of it.

or if your in the boondocks somewhere like a rural place of residence far away from help, or the ghetto then it makes sense

but for everyone else who lives around good people and is not far away from good help, get real, you cant live in fear just because someone on the tv says you should.

or rather a certain guy called nutinfancy who thinks that the world will instantly end the day after tommorow, seriously that guy is off his rocker.

however I do like Sooch even if he buys into Nutins crazyness a little bit too much.

FYI both of those guys have done videos on youtube about bug out bags like you guys are talking about.

For about 1600 home owners in this area the world did end last Sunday. Yes we are mainly rural. The fire station is about 3 minutes away from my place. The fire spread extremely fast and covered the 6 miles to town in about 4 hours. The citizens of the county seat were told to prepare to evacuate. One of the other towns were also making preparations to bug out.

Or you could ask the citizens of Dallas if the city has ever fully recovered from the tornado that went through the city center a few years ago.

Make fun/deny/bury your head in the sand all you want. Disaster can strike anytime, anywhere, and without warning.

Your in texas though a state which is known to have that kind of weird thing happen (and yes I know how big texas is)

and no offense but I'd rather live my life devil may care than hiding in my own bed for the fear of something bad happening to me or preping everything to leave in a hurry unless something bad was expected or there was a real chance something like that would happen even if it was remote like in Dallas.

basically assume the moderate worst thing can happen and prepare for it, not assume the worst and hope for the best like everyone's been feeling for awhile.

basically enough with these Knee Jerk reactions and thinking the worlds going to end just because theres an idiot in the white house and a few people who dont like america out there, you can't and shouldn't live in fear

that's all I'm saying.

Still, what does it hurt to be prepared. I keep a BOB in my trunk that can sustain my wife and I for a few days if necessary. It contains basics like change of clothes, towel, toothbrush/paste, matches, 550 cord, fixed blade knife, multi tool etc. If I have to evacuate in a hurry or simply can't get home and have to spend the night somewhere I can without too much hassle.

True and you do have a point.

Sorry I guess listening to Nutinfancy has put me off of his ideals, even if this is one of his few good ones that has a bit of sanity to it for once.
