Everybody should own one, Highway Patrolman

I have owned three model 28's over the years. Most dealers hesitated to even take one in on trade because of very little public interest in this model back in the 80's and 90's. Glad to see people starting to show interest in what I always thought was a great gun.

I think these are the ideal grips for a Model 28. They even look good. ;)

The first time I ever borrowed this 28-2 from my brother to go
rabbit hunting in was brand new and wearing the factory Magna grips.

After a couple of rabbit hunting trips when I picked it up from
him he told me these Pachmyar grips were better suited for what I
was using the gun for. He was right.

When he gave it to me he told me that I was the only one who
had ever shot it so he felt that it should be mine. :)

Love the highway patrolman and I have had quite a few over the years and still have the 3 nicest.

This one I think is my favorite:

Since it was discontinued in 1986 it has acquired a "cachet" and everybody wants one.
Had my 6" -2 for 40 years. Was looking for a 4" but this one called my name. A 6" is pretty much an all arounder. Target shooting, home defense, hunting, handles those magnum loads nicely.

I agree. I used to buy these in the early 2000’s as a source of old target stocks. They were so cheap back them it was unbelievable to me, even then, that I could get diamond targets and an N Frame no dash to dash 2 all for about $450-500 tops. Ah the good old days of plenty.

Here’s what I call my M28 “Mountain Gun”

The Highway Patrolman is a terrific gun. Pictured are my three. The two pictured together are 1st year guns. The other is from 1967. The 1954 six inch is a recent acquisition and is in remarkable condition.

" Starting" to show interest? Try buying one. They are twice what they were 3 years ago.

I am surprised they did not get more popular sooner. In actuality, they are a M27
