Ewoks ate people!

The Ewoks might have been cannibals in addition to man eaters. I seem to recall some wearing necklaces of small skulls. Perhaps they eat their young...

Strangely enough I do not use drugs.

My children are at age where they are interested in Star Wars now, and with Disney owning it, the toys, merchandise, and cartoons are returning with a vengeance. Thus as an adult, I now revisit a franchise popular when I was a boy.

One of the toys now basically consists of well cast toy soldiers of Star Wars characters. One such set has Ewoks. My sons, mainly familiar with Star Wars Rebels, asked me about them. Which got me thinking...and slowly the horrible truth dawned.

Which also hints at the troubling realization...Were the Empire really the bad guys? Was the Death Star destroying Alderaan perhaps justified, or at least no different than the fire bombing of Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki?

Think about it, who are these rebels. The Jedis are religious fanatics who think their way is the only way. They formerly monopolized military power and brainwash children as new recruits. All based on a mystical interpretation of some individuals having a genetic predisposition to use otherwise untapped potential of the brain.

Leia is just a Patty Hearst type. A privledged royal dilettante playing at rebellion.

The royals of Alderaan just don't like their loss of privledge to a meritocratic empire. Presumably they are the money behind the rebellion and also a major source of arms and recruits.

Leia simply lies to Vader in claiming peaceful intent, having no weapons, etc.

When the Death Star destroys the planet, the intention is to destroy the heart of the rebellion, to end the war in one fell stroke. Perhaps from a military point of view it would save lives. Sure the population is wiped out on a planet, but how many people on how many planets are dying because of the insurgency?

Then we have Han Solo. We know he was a renowned smuggler, but he had a rather small ship, so what could he have been smuggling? Probably drugs. Possibly human trafficking. We know he worked for Boba Fett, a criminal boss ala Pablo Escobar, one who did keep slaves.

And what was Hans relationship with his Wookie? I suspect it was considered unnatural and illegal under Imperial law.

Luke, well he is one of the religious fanatics....

Lando...another smuggler, drug baron, and income tax evader.

What sort of heroes are these? Simple answer, they aren't. When the Imperials refer to rebel scum, they are telling the truth...

The Empire doesn't care what religion a person, or alien is. They don't care about royal blood either. People are promoted on merit. Military service and higher education are open to all. They enforce peace, albeit harshly and a sort of law and order.

Think about it, they replaced a chaotic and broken government, enthralled to the religious fanatics, where a Gungan could be a Senator...

Wow. That is really deep.... I thought Avatar took the cake.....

I'm beginning to wonder if it's safe to LIKE Gator's post.

We could be on a list of sorts.

Keep 'em coming. I've been thoroughly enlightened.

Then they....

Why those no good sons of...I bet they had something to do with Dale Earnhardt's death.

Regards,

Dave

Then they are going to be named in my next wrongful death suit. The one that I'm going to have file in my local jurisdiction because no one else has the guts to do what's right and needed to be done a long time ago. That Sterling Martin got away with it, but somebody's got to pay.

Just watch the movies again, well at least the original three, as an adult and think about it. As a kid, it was all just cool space ships, laser swords and aliens...But as an adult, if you stop and think about what you are seeing, things look a lot different...and not in a good way.

Of course...my exposure to the Smurfs could have just left me predisposed to have a positive attitude towards an autocratic central government....Ponders.

In furtherance of my original theory however, on the Star Wars Rebels cartoon my kids enjoy...the Rebels are organized into classic Marxist style cells. The rank and file seem to be regarded as useful idiots. The Rebels themselves support their endeavours via smuggling, petty crimes and odd jobs for organized crime. They seem to...not want to pay taxes or import duties...as a major gripe. They steal, engage in low level sabotage, propaganda and blow things up.

Solo did not work for Boba Fett. He worked for Jabba the Hutt. Boba was a bounty hunter sent after Solo by Jaba.

OK, flesh eating Ewoks I can buy into but Wookie love....NEVER!

Hmmm, WE are living that one...I am seeing plenty of Gungans in government these days. Which reminds me, the floppy tongue scene when Jar Jar gets his tongue zapped in Episode 1. I could not stop laughing.

Next we'll learn Jonny Quest was really Canadian, Hadji was with a SISL sleeper cell, Bandit wasn't house broken, and "Race" Bannon and Dr. Quest were on the down low.

If I am correct, George Lucas did not put an end to the dark and edgy American cinema of the 1970s. Rather he was the ultimate genius of American cinema. He played with everyone's perceptions and point of view, and made them identify with the villains and terrorists.

And yes, I mixed my Boba with my Jabba at times...but...the point is Han Solo was a drug smuggling, Wookie loving, Narco terrorist and possible cannibal.

Let us go back further in the saga, to Order 66 when the Clone Troopers killed all the Jedi. Sure, they were raised in vats. But do you know why they shot the Jedi? Because they wanted to. It was every Clone Troopers dream.

Think about. Clones or not, they were just people. People who had been enslaved and conscripted by the Jedi to fight their wars and used as an expendable slave class.

Order 66 was simply a Sepoy Mutiny. The Clone Troopers were eager to be free men, rid of their arrogant Jedi officers who would sooner spend a thousand troopers lives than risk a hang nail. The troopers weren't stupid and they weren't robots, they hated the Jedi. The EVIL Jedi.

Sure it was a hard call to shoot the young Jedi Padawans, but you have to realize everyone one of them was essentially akin to a fanatical Hitler Youth and a ticking time bomb. Just as blowing up Alderaan was a hard call, but necessary to try to end the war and save lives.

Lucas himself probably got caught up in the scam, after selling out to Disney can not reveal the truth, thus his technical genius is realized but not his artistic genius.

The Empire being the good guys even explains why the Stormtroopers shot like the A Team.

Venture Brothers and Johnny Quest take place in the same continuity. In it we see what happened to the Johnny like Dr. Venture as well as seeing the end of Race and what became of Johnny. None of it is pretty. Also note that Doctor Krieger on Archer, which takes place in a nebulous time mixing past and present looks a LOT like Doctor Quest.

My take, Hadji is actually a girl in disguise, and is Lana and Archer's daughter. Johnny is the wee baby Seamus. Doctor Krieger or one of his clones is Doctor Quest. An aged Slater is Race Bannon.

"The Empire being the good guys even explains why the Stormtroopers shot like the A Team."

You mean 'cause they fired off thousands of rounds and never hit nobody?

"the Empire being the good guys" - hmmmm. The Stormtroopers DID wear white. You might be on to something.

Just imagine the horror for a young Stormtrooper. He grows up hearing stories of the chaos of the Clone Wars. Hoping to escape the smelly occupation of nerf herding, he joins the Imperial Army, hoping to learn a trade. Now suddenly he is in the dark forests of Endor, furry flesh eating guerillas behind every tree.

Even any that survived, escaping and evading the vengeful Ewoks, will forever have to live with the horror of their friends being eaten.

Ever after, veteran stormtroopers would stare off into space and remark about the horror of Endor.

Which if you think about it, the Empire could have represented America and the Ewoks were the Viet Cong....
