The last time I saw St. Pat's was Memorial Day 2002 when Dad's funeral was held there. He took the last ride in the local funeral homes 57 Caddy hearse. Dad had a Santa costume made up below the border and he used it to dress up as Santa for the Christmas Eve Masses at St. Patrick's until the Christmas before he died.

I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca twice, for a total of four plus years and visited Bisbee and Tombstone often. Great places to visit. Let's not forget the ghost towns and riparian habitat along the San Pedro or the bird sanctuary in the Huachuca Mountains (the number and variety of hummingbirds is amazing). Camping/hunting in the Dragoon Mountains was a real treat.
I personally loved the weather, history and scenery there. Because of the elevation, it was not too hot in the summer for too long and we did get a little snow in the winter (but it didn't stay around long). I actually got a little tired of saying "Dang (or something similar). Another perfect day." The shooting and hunting were good also, especially the deer, javalina, rabbit, dove and quail hunting. The fishing was poor though, but still available at Parker Canyon Lake or to a lake in Mexico for Bass. Close to some decent towns in Mexico to have a meal and drink in (especially in Agua Prieta). The only potential problems were the border bandits.
On top of being US Army stationed there, I was also a volunteer with the Arizona Rangers, Sierra Vista Company. I had a great time assisting the Huachuca City PD, the Sierra Vista PD, the Cochise County SO, the DEA, and the US Border Patrol on some assignments as a member of the AZ Rangers. Good times for sure.
You've convinced me to take the wife there soon (she's never been there) and I think she'll love it also. Maybe I can convince her that we need to move there after I retire again (not likely though, as she's too tied to Oregon friends).
