Extra Large Rifle Primers

No, they are not XL primers. I have too many of them. Can they be sent through the USPS mail? What is the going price for these in covid times?? I will be posting them here when I know the details above. Thx, Chuck

You can not send them by USPS..they are explosives.

Thanks. Was about 95% sure that was the case. Any idea on pricing? For some unknown reason I have like 1900 of them. The only rifle I have (.308) I have about 190 rounds and that will last me until the prices of commercial ammo come down, or I die, whichever comes first.

Your best bet is going to be sell or trade locally or at a gun show.

Primers are HAZMAT if shipped as boxed components. If you prime brass (or they are loaded in to ammo) then you are able to ship as ORM-D. ORM-D is easy to send via UPS/FedEx, but NEVER postal.

UPS won't let an average joe walk in and ship HAZMAT, you must have a regular account. I'm not sure if FedEx will let you or not. And for sure, not postal.

The fee for even a large account to ship primers is somewhere around $25-$30 added on top of whatever the shipping costs.

For 1,900 primers, find a gun show buyer or trader.

Base on the price this stuff is going for today, I might try selling them to a local place that sells reloading supplies or even a pawn shop. The way people are buying and searching for anything reloading, I bet a local pawn shop would pay way more that you think they are really worth.

Unless the shipper, you, have the proper licensing, common carriers cannot accept primers for shipment!

The DOT, FAA and ATF are not you friend!

Here's some examples of penalties that the DOT and FAA have handed down found on another thread:

$53,550 Coty US NY two ounce bottles of perfume via FedEx
$70,000 Matarah Ind. Milwaukee, (Insect Repellent via UPS)
$51,000 MSC (2 boxes of WD-40)
$70,000 Penalty - Queen Nail and Beauty Products (PA ) (nail polish via UPS)
$60,000 Dreamworks SKG three butane lighters via FedEx
$51,000 Tristar San Antonio, Perfume via UPS

These are minor compared to attempting to ship primers!
