With the shield being a relatively low capacity, I feel the need to carry more than one backup magazine. One I want to put in a IWB holder on my weak hand side. I'd like to carry one or two more. How I do that I know will depend on what I am wearing, but lets say it is warmer weather and light clothing. I don't want them just flopping around in a pocket. I want them to be accessible, but not printing somewhere.

What have you found that works, for what I want to achieve?

I carry my Shield IWB and put an extra magazine in a DeSantis magazine pocket holder. Holds it in place and keeps it pointing in the right direction for a reload. I think it is a Nemises model.

extra mags-how do you carry/conceal them

I carry a pocket leather mag for my .40 and conceals very nicely. It is upright and the holster stays in the pocket when mag is drawn. Also, have a single mag carrier for the same mag on my belt. I shirt worn outside will not print or visible. I find extra mags are not necessary since most of the fire fights are close range and not more than four or five rounds exchanged. Practice dry fire every day consistently three to five yards and I know you will increase you accuracy and trigger squeeze for the unsurprising shot.

I carry two spare mags in a leather pouch in my left front pocket. looks like a cell phone in my pocket.

You might take a look at Remora's mag pouches- they're comfy and secure IWB, and work just as well in a pocket keeping lint out and holding the mag in the correct orientation. Easy on the wallet, too.

Great advice from an NRA Instructor--if you like to play the odds and gamble with your life.

There are a lot of statistics out there about "just drawing a gun" or "racking the slide" or "stopping an aggressor with one well-placed shot from a handgun". They are all meaningless when you are confronted with your own situation. Being unprepared for what may happen to you is your choice, but the consequences may not be yo your liking.

No one ever said at the end of a gunfight, "Damn, I had too many rounds with me!" However, there are some who cannot say, "Gee, I wish I had just a few more rounds," because they are dead.

said it before but, I found a low cost item that works perfectly. I have several scabbards for swiss army knives and a couple of old leatherman tools. They work perfectly for single stack low capacity mags. Not only were they "free" but no one has ever suspected that I was carrying a mag in them. Just a suggestion but it works for me.

I carry one or two extra 15 round mags for my 40c on my off side .. according to where I am going and the area I will be in ..

But to do that a good gun belt is a must !!

I don't go out with less than 1 extra mag in the mag holder attached to my holster. I sometimes stick an extra in my back pocket depending on where I'm headed. I'm an old guy that has no "special powers" to let me know when I'll need less bullets & I have no desire to be in a situation protecting myself or my family only to look down, see the slide locked back after pumping a full mag into a drugged up dirtbag that is still coming. By the by, I am a better than average shot under pressure. I will be trying some of the suggestions here. Thanks guys.
