I'm not much for posting personal stuff on the interweb so I shy away from things like facebook, myspace, and twitter, but with my son going overseas he wanted me on facebook as an easy way to get pics and info to me. So, I signed up for it and since I'd heard about people locating old friends on there I tried to find my best friend from when I was young, I hadn't spoken to him in over 25 years even though we were inseperable back in the day. Well, I found him and he's doing great and we've been having a great time reliving the "good ol' days". Anyway, today he emailed me some pics he's kept for close to 30 years, stuff I never thought I'd see again. I'm so psyched I thought I'd share!

Here's a couple of my '67 Plymouth GTX-

That's pretty cool. I think Facebook is one of those things that people do but are afraid to admit. I do it, I was skeptical and very uneasy about it at first. I have managed to locate a lot of old friends and classmates that I haven't seen in many years. It was great to reconnect with them. I think it's a great tool if used for what it was intended, but as with anything online, caution is the norm. I see no problem with it personally. There are those that tend to document EVERYTHING they do during the day unnecessarily. I think that borders irresponsibility and immaturity myself. I don't really care when my friends eat a meal, but some think they need to post that type of info. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I agree with avoiding the weird BS people do on those personal sites. I have my page locked out and limited to only a couple of family members and friends. On the other hand, it is incredible that I could find my friend so easily. I've been trying for years without success via google, the online phone books, etc.

It's incredible that he kept those photos for so long, seeing them takes me back like it was yesterday. Sure would like to have that GTX back!

Great pics! I've hooked up with a friend from the 70's who sent me some old pics, so I know the feeling.

Grand Prix? Pretty cool.
68 VW? My second car. Had it in my friends yard, started a clock, and had the engine pulled in 7 minutes. Had to put what we called an "Arkansas Stud" in it cause I had the heads milled and kept pulling studs.
Now the Plymouth, that's a true classic and a great ride!

Oh how I wish they built them like they used to....

I signed up for FB last month, just before a class reunion I couldn't attend. Since then, I've hooked up with almost 100 people . . . many whom I've not seen in years.

Each person has a "Friends" list too, and you find others that you also knew on their list of friends . . . link with these people . . . find more, etc.

It is fun . . . and it is nice to then talk to folks who were special in my life . . . but years before I was transferred to Georgia.

Highly recommended. Do it while your old friends are still around . . . they will be glad to hear from you too!

T.
