Fallout from the SIG P320 Uncommanded Discharges

Well, they lost the primary ruling. We shall see how it goes. Given that Sig already has a bad history of regulatory non-compliance (smacked by German government for prohibited weapons sales), and their ludicrous claims about why these discharges are happening, I think they are well on their way to the end of the company.

Some police academies and private schools use that term to differentiate a non tactical/speed reload, often done in the holster (the meaning with which I am most familiar) by removing a partially/completely used mag and replacing it with a loaded one. Its a common term and I'm kind of surprised any shooter does not know it.

Actually, I've heard the term "administrative reload" years ago; just couldn't remember what it meant. Not that it really matters....

This is an interesting report, albeit rather bureaucratic. My takeaway is that the Sig Sauer representatives were pretty effective and persuasive with an argument that basically went: "Don't believe your lying eyes. The design of our pistol is infallible, and what you think happened is simply impossible."

Ultimately, the question is whether or not there are viable alternatives to the 320 that are not under a cloud of reasonable suspicion of defect. That answer is "Yes".

"As far as my personal P320 goes, I don't think I could in good conscience pass it along it to another individual now, and I doubt many FFL holders will deign to handle one at this juncture, even if they could get it on the cheap. However, I'd remark that many law enforcement agencies moving off the P320 are trading them in, and those guns are then routinely being marketed to the general public. So maybe my scruples are overwrought. Regardless, in my mind, I've written my P320 off in toto, regarding it as unsaleable unless or until SIG has a epiphany and comes up with a credible fix (which might entail entirely redesigned replacement fire control modules) or ponies up for a mass buyback (fat chance).
I'm afraid that I'm in the same boat. I really like my P320 X5 Legion, but I can no longer compete with it or even shoot it at the range. I'm not sure what to do with it now except let it sit in the safe. I don't think any reputable shops will accept it as a trade in, and I'm not comfortable with making a private sale to some unsuspecting individual. Writing off a $1K handgun is not easy for me, so I guess I'll have to wait to see if anything good comes out of this situation.
