Mobil 1 5-30w, because that's what I use in the Tundra, and there's always as bit extra in the bottles after an oil change. If its tough enough to withstand an internal combustion engine's abuse, a gun should be no problem.

Kroil - Good stuff, don't know if it's better than any other.

I know a guy who used to service photocopiers. He said the "secret" to a finely tuned copier was Marvel Mystery Oil, because of the high temperatures involved in the process.

I really like Militec-1 although I use it as lube and have never heated it. It is my lube of choice on guns that do not get grease (Rig +P Stainless Steel Grease) such as Glocks & M&Ps. I use grease on the rails of 3rd Gen guns, 1911s, SIGS, etc.

Synthetic motor oils work great. I have used breakfree for years but last year bought some Royal Purple Gun Oil for lubing after cleaning. I did so because when I used Royal Purple Motor Oil in one of our cars it improved the mileage from 1.5 to 2 mpg every tankful. After I used up the small spray can of gunoil($9.95 for 4 oz), I tried some of the motor oil and it felt just as slick and is $6.95 a quart! I will use it from now on and a qt should last for years. God Bless.

Mobil 1....which one?

curious about this topic now. Initially I saw/heard 0W30 and now I'm seeing 10W30. Which one would be better if any....and why?. Preferences? Thanks guys. just entered into the AR realm finally with the SW sport since prices came down....it goes along with all my MP handguns-great line. lol.

I have and use some synthetic rem oil.....it works fine.....regular gun oil, clp, or generalpurpose house hold oil works fine too.

Lots of different ones. Often mix them together to make my own custom blends. A new one I'm trying is called NYOIL. It's from a company out of New York State that's been around forever. Mostly selling to industry and not consumers.

NYOIL is suppose to to have properties identical to synthetic ATF but without the nasty red dye and god awful smell. It's clear and odorless.
